@lduboeuf This idea I like … it seems consistent because sometimes I have the screen and often the problem described above…
Can the proximity sensor be disabled ?
I’ve also noticed since the OT18 update, that my battery runs out in less than 24 hours! (even without WIFI or Bluetooth), even though it held well before… could there be a connection? -
-
@gilles68 This is exactly what occours to my BQ E4.5. Maybe the problem is specific for this model?
oh, and i'm on the RC channel
-
Does it occur everytime ?
-
@lduboeuf Just tested on 4.5, no issues so far but it reminds me having that case once. Maybe reinstallation needeed ?. Would be interesting to check for the sensor before
-
@lduboeuf yes, every time
-
@lduboeuf i agree, maybe a full reinstall can help. I run my ohone since ubports advent. I think it's time to a reinstall
-
the problem is there 98% of the time, sometimes I get the screen during a call but it is rare.
With the application "SensorStatus", no data on the proximity sensor (neither with the GPS which does not work for a long time, nor with the compass which also does not give anything anymore for a long time (~ after the passage to Ubport, but I am not sure))
"SensorStatus" give measurement only with Orientation, , Rotation, Accelerometer, and GPS who say: active but -,-,-,-,-, all other say "no data available",
Is there’s a problem with the sensors! ?
For the battery, it lasted at least 2 days before the OTA18, now in 20 hours, it is empty!
If TheUlpio reinstalls, I look forward to the result. -
@gilles68 You can test the proximity sensor, start a call and see if placing the hand above the sensor makes the screen turn black, then on if moving the hand
-
@lduboeuf This is what happens: when I click on "call", the screen becomes black, if we press on it, it lights up as long as we press and turn off as soon as we release; the fact of just passing the hand over does nothing; if we want to hang up, Press on/off and quickly click on the key.
I also tested by plugging a mouse into the USB; by clicking on "call", the screen turns black and the mouse has no more effect. -
I moved this thread to the dedicated sub forum for Aquaris E4.5
I hope other users can confirm that sensors are working properly and that it may be your device starting to fail or that sensors are an issue on this port.
-
I would just like to announce that my Aquaris E4.5 behaves exactly the same. Although I originally thought that the non-original display was to blame. I changed the display roughly at the same time as OTA16. The touch decoder broke in the original display.
-
I've checked that behaviour on my E4.5 (OTA-18):
- I can make several calls without problems
- If I hold my hand over the sensor the screen is going black, after removing my hand the screen comes alive again.
- Pressing the power button during a call turns the screen off, pressing it again turns the screen on again (and it stays on, not only for the moment of pressing the button)
- Proximity-sensor in "SensorStatus" says also "no data available"
-
I’ve done many tests… nothing has changed about the screen that goes off completely on a call
Is there a command to have the value returned by the proximity sensor? With regard to the problem of battery exhaustion, it seems that:
If I turn off the WIFI phone on "OFF", the battery holds without any discharge.
If I activate the WIFI or restart with WIFI on "ON", the battery runs out in 12 hours (EVEN if you switch WIFI on "OFF" !)
If the WIFI is activated and you are out of range of the WIFI network, the battery does not empty!
It looks like an application that would use WIFI..
problem: I have not installed an application since OTA18 and it is after that the problem appeared
Does anyone know of an available app that indicates WIFI rate? -
@gilles68 said in No more screen during a phone call:

I think 'dataMonitor' from the OpenStore has a WiFi logger
-
@gilles68 does RC or devel fix the issue ?
-
Sorry for time, but I always fight with booth black screen on phone and battery rapid discharge.
-For the screen… some time it work I don't find a relation with some thing… sensor problem ?? where is data for this sensor ?
-For the battery, I don't thing it is the "wifi"…
If a reboot phone with or not wifi and do nothing it seem that battery stay ok;
but if I launch navigator, surf and close it... the battery start discharge quickly… (but not all time ! )
It is painful to characterize this because after each manipulation, you must wait 3-4 hour to see if batty is impact by the action !

I have the same problem as @Gilles68 a while ago. I though it was my phone's proximity sensor that was broken, but reading this post I realize that maybe it is some issue with the BQ 4.5.
I mean, maybe all BQ 4.5's proximity sensor have a short life, a kind of planned obsolescence.
A similar issue happens with the screen. I bet that @x-Dub had to replace the screen because the digitizer did not respond in a wide horizontal line crossing the center of the screen. Mine has the same issue, but I have not yet change it. When I have to call someone with a 5 in his/her telephone number, I have to switch to windowed mode and move the phone app, so the number 5 stays in the top or bottom of the screen . -
@aimar : Yes, that's why I had to replace the display. I'm quite sorry, the phone looked better without the bottom painted buttons.
