        Hello There,
I just got a OnePlus One and tried to install Ubuntu touch using ubports on my kali Linux.
Installation it self seems to work but after reboot the device got stuck at "powered by ubuntu<...>" for about 10 hours.
I reinstalled UT with the same effect.
Can someone help? I really would like to have a Smartphone .. but I wouldn't ever use iOS or Android 😉
        Cheers

@datphil If you are sure the install went ok please try starting while connected to mains power. If it does start then it may be a battery issue.

Thx for the fast reply. I connected device to a 2000mA USB charger 30 min ago and rebooted with the same result.
I never before flashed a smartphone so I'm not sure the Installation went ok. ubports told me it went ok. After Installation the device told me it would install some updates. After that it went back to the recovery screen. After reboot it got stuck at the screen "powered by ubuntu<...>".
Are there any logfiles I can access?
            Cheers

@datphil So it booted into UT once then if I understand right. If I where you I would use the installer again and the wipe option and probably the Devel channel and re install. Then when everything is has finished including the initial set disconnect from the laptop keeping it on power. You will then have the most upto date version of everything. Also do the firmware update if it asks ( been along time and can't remember if it still does this). If all that causes a problem lets look further. As it's Saturday i am out for a few hours but there is normally someone about. Good luck.

Well, it did not exactly boot into UT. I try to discribe it:

                • I had to press Volume-UP + Power to get into Fast boot.
                • ubports wrote firmware
                • I had to pres Volum-Down + Power to get into recovery mode
                • ubports copied the files to the device
                • device rebooted by itself
                • next screen was "Installing Updates"
                • then it return to recovery mode
                • I press Power to confirm reboot
                • then it got stuck

I just installed the devel and give it a try. I will come back in an hour or two to write the result ..

Thank you a lot for helping!

I really did. I retried it. When UBports tould me "Ubuntu Touch successfully installed!" I left it untouched and went for a walk with the dogs.
After that it remaind in Recovery Mode. Just rebooted it. Screen says "powered by Ubuntu" again. Will leave it for another half an hour ..

I had the same issue on one oneplus one I have (it would hang or always boot to recovery). I installed TWRP and formatted and wiped all partitions. I then installed the latest version of OxygenOS for that phone (codename of phone is bacon). Installed Ubuntu touch with no issues after that.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.... And more...
                      I have too many devices...

Wow .. that really work out! Thanks to @MrT10001 !!
I had to change one line in the install script of OxygenOS, because my device had forgotten that it is a OnePlus. Then it worked.
Ubuntu Touch is running now. Have some miner "issues" like I don't know how to close camera app .. but I will figure it out.
                        Best
