Ubuntu touch version 7 update
-
@alan-adale It should just resart into the updates then reboot as normal. Maybe give it a little time and don't press anything, let it do it's thing.
-
@moem Correct, my apologies...
OnePlus 3T it is Congrats on your OP3 -
@alan-adale said in Ubuntu touch version 7 update:
Congrats on your OP3
Thanks! To be honest, I got it mainly because it was cheap... but it's a nice enough device, with the metal back.
-
@lakotaubp Thanks for your response. It boots into TWRP's top menu and then just sits there presumably awaiting a user input. I'll leave it alone for a while and see what , if anything, happens
-
@moem Which is your daily use phone?
-
@alan-adale The Oneplus 1. It's older, but still a very good device.
-
@lakotaubp Given it a good while but nothing happens... just stays on the top menu waiting on an input.
-
@alan-adale That's not right. Just tried mine which goes straight to the your phone is unlocked warning then to downloading the update. I might be tempted to rerun yours through the installer or try switching update channels and see if that works. Mine i running on the devel channel so maybe try that.
-
@lakotaubp I experimented with the various channels, except edge, and now have 2 updates that will not update no matter what, versions 7 & 37 respectively allegedly downloaded, and one marked "Update failed" and Cancelled Making progress evidently but in the wrong direction
2 Q:
Do you have TWRP on your device?
Would a reset be of any benefit or is the reinstall you mentioned the best/only option? -
@alan-adale Mine says UBports Recovery. It's been sometime since I installed on OP3 but I'm fairly sure you should have that too. Remember to back up any info you want to keep just if you use the installer again, just in case.
-
@lakotaubp I reinstalled using UBports installer and now showing OTA-19 with no updates pending
-
@alan-adale Good news you can now mark as solved https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6311/how-to-ask-a-question-and-then-mark-it-as-solved
-
@alan-adale you are using the wrong recovery. Use the UT recovery for OTA updates. TWRP does not work.
-
@gischpelino Thank you for your observation. Indeed I did install TWRP in order to install "Powered by Ubuntu Touch" flash screen. Being informationally challenged i somehow had both UBports Recovery and TWRP which evidently caused the update to fail. When I reinstalled the OS as Lakotaubp recommended then TWRP vanished thankfully.
