        Hello
How good is the experience with Ubuntu touch on the one plus 3t?

@martinm hi i just repaired my op3t after a daily driving another phone for a while and i noticed you didnt get an answer,
In my experience it is quite pleasant to use, most functionnalities are implemented (calls, Bluetooth...) and the device is reliable generally speaking, i can list a few things off the top of my head that are buggy/missing :
-camera works on both front and back camera but video recording does not work
-no control of volume in calls
-gps : does work but takes a long time to get a fix so it s hard to rely on it
-the port is based on halium 7.1 so you cant have waydroid running on it

Other than that i dont have much to complain about, i hope it answers you question, let me know if you have a specific question about it

            Agreed with @NoelFlantier

Keep in mind the usb-c port is of mediocre quality, best to have it replaced and factor in appr. €35 to get that done before using it as your daily driver. If you have to buy one and in no hurry, you might want to consider the 5/5T or 6/6T. Especially the 6/6T as it is adopted by devs on multiple platforms.

I have seen Xiaomi Pocophone F2 Pro owners do it for less! 🙂

I thought we only JUST got a decent port for the 5 and 5T and didn't see anything about the 6 or 6T ?!

About the 3T : I think @Moem has a very long and good experience with it ?! 😄

              My phones :

              • BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Phone Edition - Ubuntu Touch 16.04 LTS
              • ZUK Z2 Pro - ZUI Android 8.x
              • Xiaomi Mi 9T - Jolla SailFish 3.4.x Community Build

              P.S. : I am NOT a developer! ;)

I wouldn't go quite that far. I've flashed it, and that is about it.

                Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

If you can live without taking video then the only other downside was the need to use a bluetooth keyboard to enter account details. Other than that mine was fine till I moved to a OP5

Then I misunderstood you in another topic last week or so...

                    My bad! :smiling_face_with_halo:

I have about one year experience running the OnePlus3 (without t) as a daily driver.

It works with the same caveats @NoelFlantier described, but the port is abandoned and quite honestly I would not recommend getting one to use with Ubuntu Touch. But if you happen to have one already, sure give flashing it a try and maybe you will like it.

Fairphone 5 (Not yet installed UT on it though)

@poVoq I had been looking forward to flashing UT on my OP3, but when I did it, I found the experience to be quite wonky and then I only then I found out that this device is essentially unmaintained, so that bug linger on unfixed and new bugs accumulate with nobody to take care of them. I have now flashed /e/ on this phone, which gives me a far superior experience.
