What is the function in QML API to access screen brightness ?

I live in Austria and have a few discount cards and QR codes for memberships. The app "stocard" acts as a single app for all discount cards on android. Even if I cannot succeed in doing something that sophisticated, I would like to have an app where I store my bar codes as images and show them in places like supermarkets. The card wallet app in the open store cannot generate stacked bar codes. Hence, it doesn't serve the purpose here.
The primary issue is these require the screen to be at its maximum brightness, or the scanners fail to read the bar code. The android applications usually automatically increase the brightness to the max when you open one.
Currently, I have to manually disable automatic screen brightness on my Xiaomi Mi A2 running UBports every time. Therefore, I would like to know if any API functions are exposed to increase the screen brightness in such scenarios temporarily.
