Sony Xperia X not connecting to network
-
Hi all,
I am switching from iPhone 7. I installed Ubuntu Touch on my Sony Xperia X (5121). I put the SIM card from my iPhone into my Xperia but when I try to make a call, it says "No Network: There is currently no network." I use Total Wireless as my carrier and they use the Verizon towers if I remember right. Can someone help me be able to make calls and receive texts?
Thank you.

Hi @kcbarton
You might be in the case presented in this forum thread:
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/7384/the-definite-volte-deadline-date-in-the-usa-is-now-known?_=1646391705327In the US calls are no longer possible with GSM (2G or 3G) and only VoLTE is possible but sadly it is not yet possible with Ubuntu Touch.

@applee And if I have 4G? I’m not entirely sure I understand the notice. I have Verizon but does that T-Mobil notice apply to all carriers?

No, the other ones have shut things down earlier, T-Mobile is the last one to offer 2G and 3G for a couple more days. You will not be able to use your phone on UT for calling as things are, unless you start using SIP.
The 4G that Verizon offers is VoLTE, and that does not work on UT yet.(Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

@kcbarton
Data will work, but calls and SMS won't work without support for VoLTE.
Sorry. -
