        Hi all

I recently switched to ubuntu touch on a fairphone 3 as my everyday phone with the availability of waydroid. While that works great it does cut my battery life from ~40+hrs (charge every two nights) to less than 10hrs.

Is there anything to be done about?

        thanks in advance and cheer

@gandalf only use waydroid, when you need to. Use the waydroid stop app after usage of waydroid, which you can install with the waydroid helper app.

          Devices: BQ e4.5, Fairphone 2, Fairphone 3, Lenovo X605F, Pinephone, Moto Z2 Force, OnePlus5T

@luksus I'm using it primarily for whatsapp and messaging, so turning it on and off is unfortunately not that practical. I'll take a look at the whatsapp web packages in the store, but not all apps I'm using have that option.

I'm using the waydroid helper already, thanks.

@gandalf yeah waydroid is not meant to run in the background. It will drain your battery extremely fast - there's not much you can do about it - running a system inside a system is always gonna be power-hungry. Actually you're lucky it lasts a day in this state !! My pixel would die in two hours top if i left it with waydroid + LTE running

@gandalf I use the web app for whatsapp. It's always on, it doesn't drain the battery and, a great advantage, it has access to my phone's photo gallery. I have audio notifications. No calls though. At least not yet.

@mihael said in idle cpu consumption:

                  No calls though.

Whatsapp Web does not support calls on any platform
