    • Super loud hang up tone

Hello good people ! I wanted to put that into support a while ago but I thought it would eventually go away or something. Here's the thing: when someone ends a call on me, or their phone is unreachable, the dual beep that ensues never fails to pierce my eardrum, and most likely disturb wild fauna in a mile radius ^^ it's unbelievably loud, and I can't find no option to change that. The same happens for a dual call, which prevents me from hearing the actual conversation. Any ideas ? FP2 stable

    • RE: Swipe style keyboard

@rocket2nfinity oh man i'd love this to happen but it most probably won't. Even getting a swype keyboard to run on an open source version of android (lineageos and so on) is close to impossible since Swype has been discontinued and using gboard implies copying proprietary libraries from gapps which generally results in an unstable mess if anything... So to think it could be "ported" seems unrealistic. There might be a need for an open source new swype keyboard but I don't see this happening in the near future.

    • broken apps

It seems from another thread that a messaging app available on the open store actually does nothing, fully broken. I had the same experience recently with Htop clickable - 0 ko app, yet installs, yet does nothing. Maybe here we could start listing these ?

    • RE: Is UT efficient for a daily drive ?

Yeah obviously the FP2 has a lot of problems of its own, that are definitely not specific to UT, and be not mistaken, I had a great experience with this OS and am not reverting to Android; it's just that pooky asked about the FP2, and here is its current state of porting ^^

@dobey I was wondering if hardware acceleration is something that can be done, or is considered ? Or is it something that's unlikely to happen ?

@mrlen the only way to be 100% safe from tracking is to get rid of your sim.

    • The banking situation

I reckon banking abilities is even more important than videochat. Despite all its flaws, UT has been my daily driver for a year now (guess i'm a recluse ^^) and I got over the flashlight not working and a couple of apps I miss. But banking... It's a pain i have to shift to my work phone to be able to do anything money-related and I ended up calling my bank to tell them they need to develop sth for UT. I think they're still laughing about it ^^ That's a real issue though. I'm starting to wonder if I'm gonna leave the bank I've been in for 15 yrs just because I need to find a bank that doesn't rely on 2FA... Yet. I guess with the chinese and russian move to a Sailfish fork, Banks are gonna have to make Linux apps - but that won't mean much for us, sadly. I don't see this happening in the foreseeable future, and as long as people going for UT have to rely on another phone for such a critical matter, well, any progress otherwise is pretty much doomed isn't it ? I know the issue is also very much there with AOSP, but ubports is now a foundation, which I guess would make it easier for banks to build secure, dedicated apps, if they know who to talk to, and can relate to an actual store... Or maybe I have to accept the fact that half the people on this forum still have a bank account that allows transactions through web browsers and sms codes and I need to find one !

@pinguin Well you could use a nextcloud account from one of the available client apps and synchronize through that.

It's me again. Actually it still doesn't work. What led me into believing it was fixed is that pure maps actually displayed my offline maps, and i can see the tiles loading in the osm server. But i can't search for a place (nothing comes up) and therefore can't use navigation. Still stuck there.

    • RE: Pure maps can't use offline maps anymore.

Actually there might be a deeper issue: the version of pure maps slim that was defective was flagged by the openstore as "not coming from the official store". I reckon the reason for this is that these last days, the updates I made were available in both the openstore and the system updates tab - that is, for one given app, I updated it twice, because i.e. updating from the store did not erase the entry in system updates. It seems like a problem in itself, but since pure maps was one of these apps, I wonder if it didn't get corrupt somehow in the process...

Little update here: it works with the fullversion ofpure maps. The behaviour i described happens only with the slim version. Now what it does issimilar to what rinigus described in an earlier post: it displays the sameerror, butactually works.
