        What I did.

Imported Contacts from Gmail into Contacts - seem to have worked fine as I can send emails by clicking on the name on Contacts. I hit the Export button in Contacts and synced with Dekko 2 - which was one of the options.

Now when I try to forward an email in Dekko 2, I have to a)indicate which of the two emails I am sending from - Is there not a default selection? and b) type in the full name of who I am sending it to....as there is no attempt to guess who the recipient is.

        What am I missing please?

@dunbrokin sorry, but this time I am clueless. I even don't know why there is an option to export contacts to dekko2, because - as you stated in your post - there is no possibility to forward messages without manually inserting the adress. so... no solution this time.

@messayisto As the autocomplete/address look up is standard in most email programs, is the lack of one in Dekko an oversight or a bug...and is it expected to be included in further releases? The lack of it does make sending/forwarding emails a bit more cumbersome.

@dunbrokin Maybe you better ask the developper of Dekko2. We are all glad and thankful to have at least one working email-client. I cannot say a thing about this, I'm sorry. -
I know it's a bit of a hassle sometimes to have to do so much manually at UT, but I see it as a feature and not a bug. "On Ubuntu Touch the apps are confined. The way of sharing files between them is through the Content Hub, a part of the system that takes care of file import, export and sharing." You can read on here:
                https://medium.com/@cibersheep/the-ubuntu-touch-content-hub-tips-and-tricks-d85024f9222d
Maybe this gives you an impression of the focussing on privacy and freedom, which makes the system unique (but sometimes a little bit cumbersome as you truly said).

@dunbrokin Apart from the Autocomplete - which would be really nice to have - there also seems to be a problem clicking on a link in an email and it opening up in the browser.....am I missing something

@dunbrokin try tap and holding the link. If I remember correctly a menu should pop up.

@dunbrokin said in autocomplete/address lookup in Dekko 2:

Now when I try to forward an email in Dekko 2, I have to a)indicate which of the two emails I am sending from - Is there not a default selection? and b) type in the full name of who I am sending it to....as there is no attempt to guess who the recipient is.

                          1. Settings > Mail > Identities > Default identity slider.
I don't know if that is what you wanted?

                          2. A workaround : adding the email in your Contacts app, click Forward in Dekko2, then click a contact in Contacts app, Dekko2 will copy

                            1. That's wild! Is that by design? Works when composing a new message, too. Why doesn't it use a contacts glyph, like the phone app? That would be nice continuity in the UI. In any case, its great to know that there is a way. Thanks!

                              @lsitongia : You're welcome!
I'm not a developer, so I can't say if anything is by design, or why it is like this.
Anyway, it's cool to have a way to add an address by clicking. It prevents making typos and sending mail to an unintended recipient πŸ™‚
