Hi all!
Did you consider to move Telegram UT Group to the Signal service?
Considering notable criticism by cryptography experts, but what is more important, lack of full open source support (backend), maybe we should switch to more transparent Signal communication app? -
I think this idea will not really go anywhere as long as the native Signal-compatible app Axolotl is in a less than usable state. The trouble with Signal is that it's not fully open source either, so the small, small team of Axolotl devs* have to painstakingly reverse-engineer after every change in the official Signal app.
The people behind Telegram, however, are much more willing to work with our devs and that is why the native Telegram app works well.
(* who are doing the best they can, and it's appreciated!)

Thanks for explanation... I thought that Signal is 'fully' open source in contrary to Telegram...

@ktatar156 we have telegram and matrix for our main communicatioms, matrix is fully open source, it has emcryption, but our rooms and spaces are public so theyre unencrypted.

I used to think so too, but that is no longer the case.

There is no difference in terms of security, very similar technology. The rest of security concerns depends on your relationship to these providers and your place of residence.
If you want to secure your messages, add VPN config.

Maybe we should be using Matrix more often? Cinny and the new FluffyChat apps are great and promising Or maybe Telegram is still offering stuff that can t be found with Matrix? By the way I recommend zwebtelegram in addition to teleports

@redxxiii matrix is fantasic, we have a ubports space so people can easily find related rooms without having to ask people to redirect them to the right place.
Issue is onboarding, and no great matrix app on ubuntu touch.
Fluffychat is okay, and cinny is great in desktop mode but not fantastic in mobile mode, I have dreams that we'll have neochat or something as good someday, but neochat requres newer qt.
