I didn't see any way I could downgrade my Pixel 3A phone to Android 9.
Sorry, I'm not a Pixel or even Android user, I don't have the experience to help you.
I did message someone on the UBPortsTelegram group, but I'm new to Telegram. I was hoping to be able to talk rather than write messages. I figure that would make it easy for someone to help me.
It's not. For most of us, chatting by writing and reading in the group is the easiest way. I see your messages there; hang in there, someone with experience may be around later to help you. Keep in mind that many of us are not in the same timezone as you are.

Edit: If you click on the link to the android version you need then go to the top of that page there are instructions on using the Android Flash Tool. Have a read through those it is the method I used and very quick when you get into it but have a read through first then take things slowly. -

So, I went to https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/sargo , and to me it looks like my phone needs to have Android 9 installed before using my Pixel 3A phone to go to the following site indicated in the Preparatory step.Preparatory step
For Pixel 3A at site:

Make sure to revert to factory image PQ3B.190801.002Or is reverting to factory image PQ3B.190801.002 the same thing as installing Android 9?

Correct. The referenced factory image is the Android 9 version that is mentioned. Did you take a look at the YouTube link I posted?

@normmmm To be extra clear the preparatory step will install the android9 version you need to install UT. You do not need tobe on android 9 to do the preparatory step.

Hi Guys,
Google wasn't letting me sign into Google Play Services once I was at https://developers.google.com/android/images#sargo for version Android 9 otherwise known as image PQ3B/190801.002. Yes, I've saw the PQ3B/190801.002 page with the Google Play Services "sign in" at the top right corner of the phone, but No, I wasn't able to get it on my new Pixel 3A phone because as I just said I wasn't able to sign in. The reason may be because I do have a phone with an IMEI number that starts with 35 (arublislander info), or because Google doesn't like me using a NFC Yubikey. The reason may well be the latter reason because I was able to unlock the OEM. Anyway, I don't know what else to do. Probably I need to talk to Google, but I have never been able to do that very well. I basically just wanted a phone that I could learn more about Linux on, and use to text, and make an occasional call. A less expensive phone plan was going to be part of all this. I'm not a power user; I'm not really even a phone person. I wouldn't have been that hard to please. I wouldn't have been that critical of Ubuntu Touch on the Pixel 3A. Anyway, my problem is not your problem I do realize that. I will check back one more time, any help or suggestions you give me will be appreciated.Thank you for your time
NormmmmP.S. I uninstalled Telegram. I originally installed it because I heard the UBPorts Project manager (I think that was his title) mention it on a YouTube UBPorts kickoff conference video.

Did you try to download the image on your phone's browser?
Please download the image to a computer. Or better yet, open the site on chrome. On a computer and use the flash link. Then follow the instructions. -

@normmmm Please follow @arubislander's directions and use a laptop/pc to follow the links and download the correct android version and android flash tool.
Non of thiscan be done on the phone as it needs to be connected to the pc/laptop via a usb cable to flash the correct android 9.
