        Hi,

New to the ubports community in my search for Linux options for the SM4350ac (SnapDragon 480+)
Are there already any attempt being made at this moment?
I currently work for a manufacturer for rugged tablets and we are currently working on a device that has the sm4350ac together with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS storage.
Tablet will also have function keys for ease of use in the field.
When this product is launched, I want to focus on a Linux variant but I would preferably re-use the current platform.

So as a side-question.. I would also like to ask/check if ubports is allowed on commercial devices or if there are any restrictions or fees involved.

        Thank you in advance,
        Floris.

@floris The links below should give you some of the info you need on the technical side as it is not something I am overly familier with. Ubuntu Touch currently runs on android 10 and 11 devices and is touch based so does not use function keys.

No doubt someone with a better tech knowledge will fill in more of the details. As UT is free software it can be used as people choose.
As for the rest UBports is a Charitable Foundation with all that implies. If you would like to PM me it would probably be best to discuss that side away from the main forum.

@lakotaubp , thank you for the quick answers.
The function keys I'm actually not that worried about because those will trigger normal F1 to F12 keystrokes.
I had a quick look at the other projects and seems that latest status is based on Android 11.
At this moment our units are based on Android 12L.
Knowing the relative short life cycle of Qualcomm processors and updates, I wonder a bit how much lifetime would be left when starting such an endeavor.
There are also some concerns about liability, certifications and other topics which would be important as soon as you would provide such devices with UB pre-loaded.
So I think I will pick up on your offer an PM you next week or so.
I think UB is a wonderful project especially for industrial based devices!

            Thank you in advance!
