Sony Xperia X loses Wifi Connection

@lduboeuf
No change here. Once the connection is gone not a single wifi device shows up in the list on the display. I have no choice but to reboot the phone. This is quite an annoying bug. I hope that it will get fixed someday. -
I've had this same issue for a while now. Extremely irritating to have to constantly reboot to get wifi back but have to deal with it I suppose.

I have a similar issue on my Xperia X. My router has a seldom used name. If I leave it and I come back, it will automatically connect again. However the router / wifi network of my wife's parents has still the default name lets say "FritzboxXYZ". If I connect to it and leave the house the phone finds while I am going through the streets routers with this name and pouts a pop-up message on the screen that it found the router "FritzboxXYZ", however was not able to connect or and asks for the password, if I remember correctly. When I come back home, it detects my router immediately and if I go to my wife's parents house, the wifi router will not be detected anymore. However, if I restart the phone, it will immediately connect to the router "FritzboxXYZ".
Could it be the case, that you are using the routers default name or a frequently used name? Could you change the router / wifi networks name to a seldom used name? Does it work then? -
@mjosenhans, there are a number of routers on my list. With my bq hd i never had a problem navigating between them. With my Xperia X it simply disregards (not showing) any Wifi router, if on my list or not, once the connection is interrupted. If i reboot my phone I can see something like 20 routers in my vincinity again. Definitely a bad bug.

@mjosenhans I named my network personally so unfortunately that's not the issue. It just seems on random startups the wifi indicator won't show anything at all. Have to reboot and then detects and connects normally.

I have the same issue with my phone (rc-cannel)

@malmsdoom
I had reset my router today and my phone never did reconnect again. I had hoped this problem would go away as the development progressed. (rc channel, stable channel) -
Hello friends.
I installed Ubuntu Touch 16.04(OTA-23) on my Sony XperiaX (F5121) 3 months ago. I also have serious problems with the wifi module or its driver.
However, for me it is a different error pattern. When I leave the range of my wifi network, Ubuntu reconnects when I come into range. Everything is okay.
But if I am connected to my wifi for several hours (often after 2-3 hours), Ubuntu shows me I am connected but no app updates and starts. As if there is no internet connection. Only the terminal starts. But if you enter a command and press enter, the courser just jumps to the next line. The worst thing is that at this moment you can't be reached by phone! The caller hears a dial tone, but my cell phone does not ring and does not show an incoming call!!! A reboot doesn't work either, the phone shuts down but doesn't start anymore. A start now only works in combination of the power button and the + volume button.
Sometimes everything works now again for a few hours and I get a missed call. Sometimes I have to turn off and restart my phone several times, because Ubuntu now does not recognize and display any wifi network at all. -
I have an F5122 and in my case, the loss of Wifi connectivity has no definite pattern that I can see: Sometimes it would reconnect when getting back in range and sometimes not, apparently not dependent on the duration I was connected or out of range. When wifi does not reconnect within seconds, rebooting is the only way to fix it (and it works 99% of time).
Much less often (every couple of months, perhaps), I experience a loss of cell connectivity : the phone would suddenly declare it has no sim card, requiring a reboot to recover. Although infrequent, this later issue can indeed lead to missed calls, as it is entirely up to you to realize you are out of reach (in my case it can last hours...). It's definitely not an electrical problem but really a software problem which was already present when I was running SailfishOS on that phone and that is linked to my carrier using a form of "roaming" with another carrier where it lacks covering. Besides this rare issue, calling and receiving works fine for me and those who call me.
However, unlike in you report, my connectivity issues do not prevent launching the applications I use (camera, browser, email...). But of course, apps needing connectivity do not function properly. For me, commands entered in the terminal perform as expected.
Finally, I'm glad you report here the rebooting issue because I have had this issue too for a few months, after an update (on the candidate channel). When asking for a shutdown or a reboot (most of the time for restoring wifi connectivity) the screen goes black and the phone freezes in that state (power button is inactive unless volume up id pressed simultaneously). However, if you wait long enough (7-8 min?) the phone eventually reboots. I guess some process does not honour the termination request and the kernel waits a long time before forcefully terminating it.

Hello friends.
After a long time I find the time to write again. How is the problem with you?
Since the upgrade at the beginning of April to OTA-25 I have the feeling with my Sony Xperia X (F5121), the problem with the wifi module has become even worse. Now I have to restart the phone even more often during the day. In addition, the phone now hangs when booting sometimes at the Sony logo and sometimes at the Ubutu touch start page. It takes sometimes 4 attempts until it boots up. -

The startup problems have been resolved with the update OTA-25 v2.
Has anyone updated Ubuntu Touch from version 16.04 to 20.04? Is the problem with the Wlan also present there? -
Has anyone found a solution to this? I tried killing a few network processes from the terminal but no luck. The only workaround I've found is to restart the phone.

Wifi reconnects much more reliably in 20.04.
