Ubuntu Touch OTA-2 Focal on Volla phone X23
-
Here is some useful information on installing and setting up OTA-2 on the Volla X23, aimed at people like myself with limited technical knowledge.
For me installation had no issues. The only comment I would make is that if you have set updates to be installed only on wireless, and 'checking for updates' sits there not progressing then check you have a wireless connection and are not relaying only on a mobile data connection.
After installation you may try the wireless hotspot with and without a required password . If there are any problems such as not being able to connect to web pages then reboot, which should resolve the issue. I can confirm that wireless hotspot with password DOES now work on the X23.
You may see 'External Storage - Checking for files' notifications on every restart if you have an SD-Card present. This was an issue several months ago on 16.04 on earlier phones. Visit the System Settings page, and then in the 'Personal' section visit 'Notifications'. Click on 'External Storage' and disable notifications.
If you previously installed the 'Notch Hax' it will need re-applying. Assuming you still have the script for it then open a terminal and enter for example.
./apply-notch-hax.sh yggdrasilx
Media Player displays a completely black screen. Scroll up to display toolbar. click the 'full screen' icon in the bottom left to toggle out of full screen mode. It will still be mostly black. Even where an mp3 file has an embedded JPG image, this does not appear to be being displayed successfuly.
Waydroid doesn't progress past 'Preparing to download system image'. This is due to Waydroid being based on a different version of Android. See separate posts on this forum for more information.
Further Issues/Glitches
On opening a terminal the following warning is displayed twice, but does not seem to stop the terminal being used:WARNING: linker Warning: "[vdso]" unused DT entype 0x70000001 arg (nil)) (ignoring)
