@mihael just grasping at straws here. But have you already tried disabling one of the calendars, quitting the app, then restarting the app and enabling the calendar?

@arubislander Yes, I tried that, no change. I cannot disable all calendars as it says that I still need at least one active. And thank you for any idea / input!

Maybe a more suitable title for this would be "Calendars not showing in the Calendar app after upgrade to focal" - but I don't know how to change it...

This is how I solved the problem: the problem was an old calendar that was creating problems - the moment I deleted it, the calendar app started working perfect.

                        This is what I did:

                        • I noticed that in the calendar app, in the Settings, not all calendars were showing in the drop-down list for selecting the default calendar
                        • I decided to delete all calendars and import them again (after a backup, of course)
                        • syncevolution --print-databases - from the result you can see in parenthesis the name of file and folder for each calendar
                        • I started with the calendar that I was not using anymore and I deleted the corresponding file from ~/.config/evolution/sources and the folder from ~/.local/share/evolution/calendar
                        • the calendar app started again to display all other calendars
