I was speaking with many people about ubuntu touch and they was asking about waydroid a lot. I have some basic idea about source of troubles. I would like to ask on experience with android apps. Which applications perfectly works, which apllication works, but they are limited, which doen't work. The limits of each application are also interesting. For example whatsapp works but drains battery. Does also notifications and calls work? I would like to have some idea about common apps such as spotify, discord, slack, netflix, skype, tiktok, dropbox, signal, uber, pinterest, here maps, waze, google meet, zoom, instagram, viber, webex. I am curious about banking/payments apps, possibly some guitar tunner app, some speech to text app, gadget bridge (smartwatch app). People have usually some application/vendor lock-in which prevents them to migrate to ubports.

@jmlich In my opinion if you need Android apps a lot, UT is not a good choice. Waydroid is a good complement of UT for Android apps you really need, but if you need a lot of them, I think a good advise is to better stay in Android. For instance if you use Whatsapp a lot, UT will not be ideal.
You should use UT if you have UT apps for all your basic needs, except a few ones, like bank apps or public apps only available in Android and Iphones.

@wgarcia Acctually, I don't use any android applications, but waydroid sound like a way to bypass gap until native applications are written. There is usually one or two apps which locks people to android.
@treebeard thanks for nice overview of your waydroid experience.

In that case UT works well, but some people think they can keep both an Android phone and a UT phone with Waydroid, which is not the case.
