Hi guys, I have just bought a suitable device to install UT finally !!!!!!

before that I wanted to ask you guys how do you actually install apps on this OS? I know that there is something like play store with free apps. But is it also possible to install usual apk files like I used to do on android?

for example I need telegram, office etc some apps which I easily cloud install on android, will I be able to install the same apps on UT after I install it?

thanks in advance ! 🙂 and sorry for my nubby questions haha

        Hello and welcome!
First stop should always be the Open Store: https://open-store.io/
Apps from there are native. They are not .apk files but clicks. They are the best option.
For example, you should just try out TELEports (our native Telegram client) and the other Telegram clients in the store and use the one, or more than one, that you prefer.

If you must use Android packages, that is done through Waydroid. It works for all Android packages that don't rely too much on Google and do not interact with the hardware too much (because Waydroid is containerized). It will make your phone use more battery power, because you're really running two OSses at the same time. It's better to use it occasionally and not all the time.

Word to the wise: if you want absolutely everything that you used to have on Android, you may not like Ubuntu Touch very much.

        Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.
