Usability??? (battery woes)
-
UBPORT is great. I like the UI/UX.
Now : on a fresh sargo : after 12h00 the battery is at 10%
On LOS : after 24h00, battery reads 75%.On UBPORTS, sargo was left idle 99% of time.
On LOS : I used it and installed some apps. Idle 95% of time.I'm not the last one (and surely not the first) to have bought a phone (this one is not a refurb) to test UBPORT on bare metal.
Methink UBPORT should warn the users : not for a daily driver if you expect more than a few hours of work..

could you precise what was "On" during the test time ( e.g Wifi, Cellular Data, NFC, etc... ) ?
I only noticed battery drain while on LTE and wifi On, even on idle ( around 8% / hour )
Now i'm using "battery saver" app to tackle thisWhat is LOS , LineageOS ?

Every device has a status of what is working or not on the device page, including your phone:
https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/sargoOf course it is possible there is an error on a device page or something is no longer true due to software updates/changes bringing in regressions. However, what you are describing should not be the standard experience and it is likely something is wrong with that particular installation.
For instance, if you look at this device: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/pinephone
it has many more issues and it specifically states "24+ hours battery lifetime" is an issue.PS. Did you follow every step the instructions state? Like this:
If the device is running an Android version above 9.0, you have to downgrade to the last 9.0 release. Make sure to revert to factory image PQ3B.190801.002 before continuing.

Works if I answer to myself?Lduboeuf :
Well, LOS is indeed LineageOS.
All was on, except NFC - no battery saving.
With LOS, having used the gsm (total of 1h30 calls) and played around, still 60% after more than 32 hours.zubozrout:
Id did RTFM.
Even did a flashall with the latest 9 as per suggestions (before installing something "unusual", I make sure I have a way to revert to initial state). You guessed I've been rather disappointed.. Would have loved staying with UBP. But I don't mind walking with gsm + ext battery!..
-
@mascaret As @lduboeuf mentioned your case is not typical. Admittedly the battery life is not as good as it is with LOS, but it should last you 24 hours before going to 10%.
Also I think @lduboeuf's app Battery Saver does a lot to help conserve battery too.

Hi!
I also have a Oneplus 5T. Latest UBP.
Without sim card (and thus all mobile data to deal with), the battery is ok : lost 10% after 24h idle.I understand that "battery saving" cuts mobile data when wifi is available.
Now, the battery will deplete in no time when only mobile data is available. On my 3rd day with LOS, battery is at 31%.
Though I've spent time away from my wifi servers. Conclusion (sort of, I'm no dev!!!) : management of sim card by UBP is a battery monger. It's a no-go for me as I often spend time away from my home/work networks.

@mascaret Sorry, what is UBP? Do you mean UBports? The operating system is called Ubuntu Touch.
