Swiss German Language support?

@Peter-Gamma The original PinePhone is not a very capable device. It was underpowered when it was launched, and it is even more so now.
Many, if not all, of the issues you were facing on UT before were due to it being run on the PinePhone.
For instance I use a Pixel 3a, and that is a very much more capable device to run UT on, even of the device itself came out years ago. In februari I booted my PinePhone again, and it was so slow that to me it was practically unusable.

And who wants to deal with outdated devices?
All of my tech stuff is outdated, but still does what I require it for. UT is fantastic for reviving old devices stuck on really old Android.
Been through the phase of buying the latest and greatest and it is not worth it.
-
Thank you both for sharing your experience.
-
I thing Ubuntu Touch is great to run on outdated devices.
-
I think Ubuntu Touch is also great is you want a privacy phone and not an Android phone without privacy.
-
but I am against Google phones.
-
Did privacy phone expert Rob Braxman not say:
"dump Google phones and Apple phones".
So I will buy a Fairphone and flash Ubuntu Touch on it to have a privacy phone which is excellent

@Peter-Gamma There are other Android based privacy phone ROM's such as /e/OS and Calyxos. You will never be fully private on a mobile device as you will always ping against a phone mast, but avoiding giving Google, Apple, Xiaomi and so on your data ia a good thing....

- But the bad think about it is that Pine64 has pulled the Pinephone keyboard from the store.
Do not panic. The pine64eu store still has keyboards: https://pine64eu.com/shop/page/2/ (It is out of stock, as mentioned below; sorry, for the false hope.)
-
-
I am extreme panik.
-
Pine64 forum members say Pine64 EU can only sell what Pine64 USA sells.
-
If that is true Pine64 EU is basically only someone who imports products from the US and charges for this.
-
And Pine64 USA say they have pulled the Pinephone keyboard from the market.
-
And the keyboard is out of stock in the Pine64 EU store.
-
So Pine64 EU should make himself indpendent from Pin64 USA and launche the Pinephone keyboard by himself.
-
It is a great keyboard for coders and writers.
-
And I do not know an alternative exept for the iGo Stoaway which is too big for my purpose.
-
-
@sven keyboard product page says "out of stock".
And price are insane!
400β¬ for a pinephone... 600 for a proI just bought my Fairphone 5 pristine for 600β¬, with an extra battery for free...
-
I agree. Completely insane prices!
And that just for cloning the Pine64 shop and importing products from U.S.?
If it was at least a EU shop with a mission, for instance to save the Pinephone keyboard for members of the EU.
But not the slightest sign of creativity in this direction in the Pine64 EU shop .
-
But what do you expect more from Lukasz Erecinski from WrocΕaw, Poland who is the boss of Pine64 EU? Erecinski who was Community Manager of Pine64 for 5 years? Once pine64 always pine64? And not even in Poland is the Pinephone keyboard available? Are these not fabricated there?
-
@Peter-Gamma, please let us not get personal, especially talking about someone who might it might not be on this forum.

for instance to save the Pinephone keyboard for members of the EU.
Or selling localised keyboards (including those on laptops), for instance AZERTY ones for France.
I would definitely pay an extra for a pinebook with AZERTY keyboard, but I'll never pay twice the price for... nothing...

@arubislander If I work for almost month every day a little bit on installing LibreOffice on the Pinephone supported by the Pine64 forum. only to find out that LibreOffice it is not usable on the Pinephone screen.
And if I review for several years the Pinephone on my personal website especially for writers. And if I invest a lot of time and effort in this, and finally come to the conclusion that it is a good device for writers.
But exactly at that moment Pine64 pulls the Pinephone Keypboard from the market then I get:
v e r y p e r s o n a l
and share my own personal experience with Pine64 . .
-
@Peter-Gamma and that is your good right here on this forum. Giving a negative review of the company based on personal experience is fine. What I meant by making it personal was the targeting of a particular person who works at/for Pine64.
