Tello VoLTE

Hello all!! New here with a fresh Ubuntu touch install on a Pixel 3A XL. I had 2 weeks of Tello service left so I tossed a sim in and I can confirm text and data are working so far. My service does not including voice atm so I cant try that. Looking forward to testing this OS out!! Cheers o/

I added minutes to this phone and to my surprise it does make phone calls. Talked for about 2 minutes without dropping. Dialing seemed really slow. When the number is called it goes straight to voice mail. Not a surprise since it says on the pixel UT install sheet it doesn't work with VoLTE. I was able to access my VM and interact through the menus. Text and data have been working well for a week. Just thought Id share my findings if someone was looking for a provider here in the states.
Pixel 3A XL, UT 20.04 OTA4, provider is Tello Mobile with physical sim. Tello.com

I got Tello on the Pixel 3a XL too. Calls, text and data work. I can even make a call on the Tello app in Waydroid.
For some reason, if I put the cellular connection type setting 2G/3G/4G, it takes about 20 seconds or so to make a dial tone, whereas the 2G setting seems to be a little bit faster. Of course, 2G data speeds are so slow the internet doesn't show up so I just use the 4G sysem setting. This dial tone delay is not the case using the Tello app since you can call on it too, and it calls right away.

@metalmyles That's because it's using 2g for calls which is increasingly becoming unavailable as T-mobile shuts down the rest of their 2g network.
We have VoLTE solutions being worked on, but nothing available for general use at the moment. When that changes it will be announced everywhere.

I think it will be another 5 - 10 years before UT gets VoLte and VoWifi.

@arubislander Whether the article is helpful is up to you, it's not meant to be a reproach. After all, it was written 1.5 years ago that VoLte is coming, and then that was it on the subject again. The only thing to criticize about my contribution is definitely the time specification of 5-10 years. This was related to the longer time you were on the road with Xenial. In this regard, I assume that you will need just as long with the conversion as you did with the switch to 20.04. Good luck with VoLte on UT.
