      Hi all

Small question for a small inconvenience; When rebooting my phone (FP4) it takes quite some time to shutdown before the android/unlocked bootloader splash screen shows up. On the order of 30s to a full minute. When I install an update though the restart is near instant the moment I click on install. Simple question, why?

      Thanks :waving_hand:

        @gandalf hej fellow wizard,
On my fp4, reboots are instantly!
Do you maybe mean a proper shut down?
After a proper shut down, it takes a little while until you can start up again.
I just checked, reboot of the os is instantly and does not reboot to boot loader but into theos and greats you with your lock screen (no pin required)
It could be that you also have (power off) menu troubles.
Try leaving your finger on the Restart button for a moment before releasing.

On my device: if i just quick tab restart or shutdown it doesnt alway do exactly whats asked of it.
Resulting in shut down when restart is wanted and vis versa.

        Hope it helps

        And loving it

This means your device is not rebooting. Rather the Lomiri shell crashes and restarts.

A proper reboot would show the bootloader unlocked screen.

And that's an old bug: Shutdown the OS with more than three opened apps crashes Lomiri.

@kristatos it's surprising, I had never noticed that. I just did the test, and indeed, if I reboot with 4 applications open, I don't go through the bootloader warning screen...thanks for information.

I haven't run into the crash lomiri bug as I always close any app priori to rebooting just to make sure I don't dismiss anything important... I semi regularly reboot as there seems to be some buggy interaction between phone calls in UT and voice/video calls in whatsapp/waydroid :man_shrugging:

@kristatos Has an issue already been opened for this bug?

@arubislander I'm pretty sure there is a bugreport anywhere. As I said, the bug is in Focal, was in Xenial and I think also in Vivid/Trusty.

Edit: Here is one bugreport for this.

@arubislander oh wow, I've always seen it as the reboot not crash πŸ˜…. Especially if things got messy i would just do the reboot/crash and all is well hehe.

I think the reboot issue is a bit common in newer devices. Some won't even boot up again unless you do a hard reboot (long pressing buttons). At least this is what I observed in my various devices.

@Vulpex Sure, because restarting Lomiri would clear up a lot of stuff, no true reboot would be needed most of the time.
