Has anyone looked into porting to a foldable?
-
I currently run LineageOS on a 1st gen Pixel Fold & it runs shockingly well... that got me thinking about UT on it. I get the feeling UT would leverage the internal screen extremally well & open up the possibility to run desktop apps on the go without as much fuss that comes with a small phone screen.
So, has anyone looked into running UT on any foldables, is anyone even interested in this use case for UT?

@TeckMonster There is a port for the Samsung Fold 3 (https://gitlab.com/ubports/porting/community-ports/android11/samsung-galaxy-z-fold3), you may want to ask its status on Telegram, and if the porter got the screen switching working.

There are attempts and even got it running but nothing's really good enough for actual use. This is tricky because they are very expensive and niche so there's a small chance it'll be a thing soon. Well unless someone very willing and skilled to do it

I would love UT on a foldable. There's not much good tablet options so a foldable would be awesome and a great showcase of convergence but I wouldn't hold my breath

If a trusted & skilled dev wants to take this on I am will to buy them a used 1st gen Pixel Fold.
I may be willing to pay $300 towards a Fold 9, but I hate how big those are, though they have display out which the smaller 1st gen doesn't have:(
Ah shoot, I just realized Halium might be an issue for both those, as far as I can tell we don't have one for Android 14 or 15 yet. o7
