        @k.nacke Just installed UT.
The issue with this is that waydroid, just doesnt work. I got it to setup, but It spams about sensor not found. I left it for a good 30 minutes, but, it could not recover from that.
apart from that, the only other issue I could see is that the back camera is very cloudy and any photos is barely understandable.
Apart from that, the UT itself is great and working minus the videos which you addressed.
I am open for more testing, please feel free to push a development update. thanks a lot though.

Hi @k.nacke . Just tested waydroid and it does not seem to work. I am using the latest build on GitLab.
            Running

            waydoid log

complains something about not finding device sensors. Waydroid is just stuck at the LineageOS Boot Screen. I left it for approx. 4 hours to boot but it did not work. Can someone please help me?

@CaptainTalon Thanks for trying. What did you do with waydroid? I could install it, and it started it (takes an eternity to come up though), but I only tried the web browser. I think the biggest problem is the limited memory of the device.

@k.nacke That will be the reason. 2Gb and less is not enough to run the system and Waydroid on any UT device.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.... And more...
                I have too many devices...

@k.nacke I created a 1GB swapfile but Waydroid still did not work. I also installed Waydroid using Waydroid Helper. Will try to make a bigger swapfile. (approx. 4GB) Hopefully it works.

complains something about not finding device sensors.

I'll check as soon as I get my next kernel change working.

Edit: Also there is no directory called binderfs in /dev which is needed for waydroid to work

I just installed this and it works great except I have a crackling sound from the speakers and headphones when I'm listening to anything. The speakers were fine with android.

@neonmodder123 I can reproduce the hang, which is good.
I think there is no binderfs in the kernel 4.9 - simply too old for that.

Latest build has the following updates:

                            • Now building Noble
                            • Waydroid working again
                            • Fixed some typos in the udev rules

Annoyingly, the missing letters seems to be worse on Noble. I did not yet find a way to fix that.

                            Have fun,
                            Kai

@k.nacke You have Waydroid working on this low RAM device?

@MrT10001 Waydroid starts. I opened all pre-installed apps, took a selfie, install F-Droid via the browser, installed Fossify Gallery from there, and viewed the photo. At this level, it works.
I did not try any serious Android app. There was a notable delay between pressing the button in the camera app and the photo being taken. I did not run other UT apps parallel. It does not feel like a lot of fun (like Android on this device), but it runs.

                                    Happy New Year!

I hit the 1GB upload limit in GitLab, therefore there were no build for some time. The images in the artifacts.zip file are now bzip2 compressed, which brings me under the upload limit again. (I did not yet update the install instructions.)

                                    I made the following changes:

                                    • I disabled a bunch of options which collects performance data and/or collect debug data
                                    • The kernel is now built as optimized for performance, and tuned for Cortex A53
                                    • I turned the met driver ("MediaTek Embedded Technology") into an option, and turned it of. The met driver collects data which requires mostly proprietary tools to read
                                    • I fixed all warnings from the device tree compiler

I also spent a lot of time trying to get a 4.19 kernel to run. So far with no result - it boots but then crashes. The motivation here is that systemd requires at least a 4.15 kernel to support all features.

                                    Have fun,
                                    Kai

@k.nacke I was still actively testing UT, until I realized the errors on your gitlab (about the 1 gig upload). I will reflash UT tonight and keep testing.
                                      Thanks a lot,
Most Importantly, Did you consider moving to github? or somewhere less limited?

Thank you for your work. I am a new tester. Confirm missing characters. Sometimes character input in terminal repeats endless - till reboot.

So I flashed it, surprisingly, a lot has improved thanks to your efforts.
Waydroid is flawless and working. And the system is pretty stable.
The keyboard characters seems to fix for English (UK), it’s the US keyboard that seems the problem.

I spot one major problem, the back camera is cloudy and blurry. It works, but seems like moisture. Contrary to this, the front camera is actually much better than even Android.
I think fixing the back camera is the last missing piece we might need, though I had only tested this for 3 hours. Will report back with more bugs if necessary

I think it is fine now. After compressing the files there seems to be enough room left for the future.

@CaptainTalonAlt Thanks for testing! Sounds all good. The missing characters are strange. I suspect some kind of memory or alignment issue. As soon as I change something in the kernel, the missing characters change.
I have ideas about the camera issue, but this will need some time to fix.
