Hello, i have a Volla phone with ubuntu, updated to the 20.04 OTA 4. But since this OTA 4, i'm completely unable to do more updates (from the 20.04 stable channel). It downloads the update, after i restart it for the install and it goes to a boot recovery menu. And if i choose to "reboot system now", it comes back to OTA 4. The other entries are "Ubuntu Actions" and "Android Actions" but i don't know which actions i have to choose. For ubuntu, there are :
"Reboot system now" (it goes back to OTA 4),
"Replace ubuntu android system"
"Install ubuntu zip"
"Insatll ubuntu preinstalled" (but it is already installed?)
"Wipe data/factory reset"I only want to update the system not to replace it or re-insatll it ....

@aenima I have the same same - except for me it has got 'stuck' at OTA-6. If I check for updates, it tells me that OTA-9 is available, and it downloads it and then invites me to install it. From thereon in, I get exactly the same effect as you. It always reverts back to OTA-6, dated 19th November 2024.
You don't appear to have had any responses previously. I am wondering whether you have found your own solution or have made any progress?
I understand that -9 includes updates specific to Vollaphones, and I am hoping that, what was described to me as a 4G phone, will actually continue to function as a phone now that 3G networks have been switched off.

You can also try to reinstall with UBports Installer and NOT check "Wipe" option.
It will reinstall the latest build without erase your data. -
Hello, i'm still in ota4, i think i have tried "Replace ubuntu android system" but it didn't work. I will try again.

no it doesn't work , it makes me go in a directory (/data/cache/recovery) and i only have the choice to come back to the main menu .....
The_cougar_kid, thanks for your help and happy for you that your can use ota9

@stanwood i finally reinstall ubuntu without checking Wipe option. I saved all my home directory on a micro sd card by security and it was a good idea because all my data were erased. I think that the reason why i couldn't do the update was the lock of the bootloader, even the ubport installer was quite difficult to use because of this lock.
I was only able to do the replacement after doing the update on the phone and being on the recovery menu, at that time, ubports installer asks be to remove the bootloader lock .....
So now i'm on the 24.04 kernel ... (it was the default choice for my volla phone in ubports installer).
