I understand that, and to be clear, this isn't meant as a complaint or even an expression of frustration. In fact, I recently chose to buy a Fairphone 5 specifically because of its longer support horizon and the active development around it.

My question is more about how the UBports Foundation views this challenge in the long term. Are there already discussions about future approaches that could help address the growing complexity of hardware support? Or perhaps ideas within the community that could lead to a more sustainable solution while we preserve a unified experience across different devices?

I'm not so much interested in the current limitations, we all know those exist... but rather in the broader vision. How does the foundation see the path forward when it comes to maintaining convergence and a consistent user experience across all devices.

By 'convergence' in this instance I suppose you mean 'the same OS features across the different device ports"? Because people might mistake your meaning since that word is heavily in use for a specific features of the OS.

Well, yes, that is what i mean. However, it could also apply to desktop convergence, and even software convergence, if that's what you're referring to. I don't think this feature is broadly relevant yet, since only a limited number of devices currently support display output.

That said, I've seen some recent discussions about DisplayLink, and we already have an SSH client in the OpenStore, so I suppose we could try to improve that particular aspect of convergence in the long run as well.

My last merge request, which was for something unrelated, never received a response from the person maintaining this port.

I do not understand your complaint, only open merge request for joyeuse is from wilfridd, if you need to change anything, prepare change, test it, create merge request for it put there all data you can, ask for review, i believe that it will be accepted, i did it this way specifically for miatoll bunch of times and it fixed vibrations, enabled encryption, enabled volte, fixed camera after calls, just dont complain and "to put one's hands to work" it will be fine πŸ™‚

I don't want to stray any further from the topic, sorry for the offtopic.

@UBportsNews After havin watched today's show I have a question: Will all the good stuff landed in 24.04.2 be backported to 24.04.1?

I am asking, because even in 24.04-1.3 some little things are annoying, supposedly because of missing actual qt version. Like websites dont work, some smaller apps like translator etc. Its not bad, but annoying. I cant even reproduce issues, its just not reliable. After following some dev chats on teleports I now have the impression that 24.02-2 could turn out to be better, but I dont know how reliable that version is for daily use. What is your oppinion?

@messayisto I am using 24.04-2.x as my dd and for me it works very well. Especially over the last weeks it has become very good. Already better than 24.04-1.x for me but it might be best to wait for other channels unless you plan on using a test device.
Remember that for now it only has one update channel (Daily), so it may hit unexpected problems out of the blue.

@Lakotaubp I think the question some people are asking is: Will the 24.04-2.x stable branch be available on the Pixel 3a in the near future or at some point? Or will the 24.04-1-3 branch be the only option left for older devices?

Pixel 3a, works with NextCloud, pihole, Wireguard VPN, Trilium, GhostCloud, Paperless ngx...and a lot of great apps from the Open Store.

No, not all the good stuff. But some of it might
