I haven't been able to install 24.04 1.x or 2.x on my P3a. It doesn't appear to run the update phase after files are installed.

      /cache/ubuntu_updater.log says

      Applying update: rootfs-...
mv: bad 'data/*': No such file or directory

Then there are flashing messages for boot, dtbo, vbmeta.

Then it says the Applying update: keyring-... and mv bad data/*, as above.

The process appears to succeed, according to the log file, but I don't see the UT mascot on the screen with the updating message. It finishes too quickly. Then, the phone does not boot UT. It goes into Recovery.

Do I need to reinstall Android and start the process from scratch?

      Thanks for your help.

@lsitongia Try running it through the UT installer from fastboot manually selecting the device and leaving "wipe data" I ticked.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.... And more...
        I have too many devices...

With the phone in fastboot mode, connected to desktop Linux, the ub-ports-installer recognizes the phone as sargo. I select 24.04-1 stable and it asks me to select recovery mode and push the button to launch that. Continuing the installer installs the firmware to the phone.

Then the phone shows the larger circle with two smaller circles attached to the side. White and orange. Dashed orange wheel spinning. The installer is waiting for me to click pass/fail. The phone is installing the post-firmware update, I assume.

It then reboots. Shows the Google spash screen. It ends up in the UBports Recovery screen. It has not booted UT. The update has failed. I can go into Advanced and look at the logs. The results are as I first posted at the start of this thread.

All boxes selected. Not saving user space or anything.

This is resolved. I flashed Android 9 on it and then was able to successfully install UT 24.04. In retrospect, I suspect that this was my fault. I had installed Android 12 in order to help with fredldotme's Halium 12 VoLTE testing on the P3a. The underlying Android 12 probably prevented the update phase from running.
