Oh ubuntu, whats happened....
-
Whats happened to Ubuntu? 23.04 and 24.04 (beta) are beasts to install... What have you done Canonical...
-
@MrT10001 I see 23.10 and 22.04 on ubuntu.com.
-
@sven I am trying and failing to install 24.04 LTS (beta). It's the worst beta release for Ubuntu yet. The 'try it' is very slow and clunky. I deliberately hosed my system for this too keep me on my toes (backing all my important stuff up). Not impressed.
I may have to revert back to 23.04 or 22.04... I know they both work and 22.04 is definitely fine.Image of where the hang is....

It has been over a year since I installed 23.04, but I had no trouble then.
And I installed 24.04 a couple of weeks ago also with no trouble.
Maybe there is a problem with it working on your hardware? But this is not the place to report problems.
I think the right place to report problems will be on Launchpad

@MrT10001 - 23.10 were easy enough installs and have worked excellently for me on both an MS Surface Go 1st gen (using the Surface Linux kernel) and on an older i7 dual boot desktop. I'm someone that uses a lot of Gnome extensions as well. The only issues I've had on the desktop have been related to the Nvidia video card I have on it (thinking of replacing this with a Radeon) - otherwise performance has been excellent with it. I have yet to try out 24.04 but I will probably do the upgrade in a few days after official release.

@TotalSonic I think I will wait for that. I also think my trusty little Ubuntu running UT installer machine is dying.... Just doing some rescue work with parted magic on a pen drive I hosed (thanks windows).

@MrT10001 There is currently a note saying that due to a bug the ISO is oversized:

Hosed pendrive recovered, many thanks to PartedMagic. Then struggled to get YUMI Multiboot to install distros. Oh, yeah Windows 11, thanks for your "Folder Protection". Whitelisted YUMI, Ubuntu versions on pendrive, successful Ubuntu 23.10 install on ancient celeron machine, all data recovered, back up and running....
