N100 ubuntu touch without power button.
-
Hi, I have an old N100 that i bought as secondary device, the screen broke after some time and i replaced it with a new one but in the process i broke the power button. I recently installed Ubuntu Touch on it, so far so good, but the only way to turn on the device is by plugging in a usb cable which makes it virtually unusable. Is there any way to turn on the device without the power button?

@osaid If it is from a cold start - no. If you are trying to wake the device, again I cannot see any way without having a functional power button.
Check this out (which I am sure you would have experience of changing the screen), it shows how to get down to the power button and power button ribbon cable.
If you broke the ribbon cable replacing the screen, get a new one to get full functionality.
If you broke the power button on the midframe, that may be an easier fix, or you can leave it off and have a suitable small pointy implement to press the power button on the ribbon cable. This has the disadvantage of wearing the ribbon cable button out very quickly.
Edit:
There was a function in Settings/Gestures that enabled double tap to wake, but it is not available on Focal.

This feature is still available in Focal (at least on my device). So if it's not available on the Nord N100 it might be a device specific limitation.

@AppLee It's not available on my OP6, 6T, Redmi Note 7, TB-X605F, so I assumed it was a function that had kind of depreciated due to the issues it had on some devices. (It would really be nice to have on the TB-X605 to take the strain off the power button).
