        Hi,

        I was doing some thinking about ways to get RCS running on Ubuntu touch and these are some options. I don't speak for anyone on the project just wanted to start a discussion as I have been reading thought the RCS spec from GSMA

        1. The messaging app is modified to follow the RCS spec. This is not out of question but I think their might be some certification or contact with the GSMA involved.

        2. A new 3rd RCS messaging app could be bought or ported to UT. There are some company's that make these apps one being Wit RCS https://www.wit-software.com/rcs/

        -They also sell a on premises RCS equipment from what I see

        1. The UT messaging app is modified to work with matrix and the android container so a project like this might be able to ran in the background with google messages and waydroid/anbox https://github.com/mautrix/gmessages

        -Currently there is only a test RCS app in AOSP so using that instead of google messages would be a challenge

          I also think RCS is one the next "big things" after VoLTE, but in my opinion the only variant that makes sense is 1. (modify existing messaging-app to be capable of RCS).

          BQ Aquaris E4.5 (UT 16.04)
          Vollaphone (UT 20.04)

            @kristatos

            I concur!

            There are guidelines outlined by the gsma for an RCS client and from what I read from this reditor there are even Servers outlined in the GSMA docs for sending RCS messages for some carriers.

            It seems that SixDigitCode has made some great points for how a RCS client could be built.

            From what I see they have a handle on this spec, and it might be worth seeing if they are still around on the internet?

            I will post again with the updated documents from the GSMA and work on trying to break them down
