How to launch LibreOffice?
-
Anyone knows how to set the variables PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH to successfully launch
libreoffice(orsoffice) from the command line in terminal?libertine-launch libreofficecreates some issues.Seems that the packages
libreoffice-java-common default-jreare required, but not installed by the meta packaelibreofficewhich seems to installlibreoffice-core. The issue is thatsofficeandjavaldxdoes not seem to find all libraries needed, including the java installationdefault-jre. Cannot openuno.inifile.Does one have to create any directories and files?
It is assumed that whenever a desktop app is installed in libertine container
noblethat it can find all its dependencies and is able to work as expected. LibreOffice is probably the number one desktop application one would think about using with libertine. If anyone has a clue about a
libreoffice-launcherthat openslibreofficeit would be great to share it.gimpandinkscapeboth launch in libertine using the desktop mode. For reference, the software channel used is24.04/daily(noble) on a Fairphone 4. -
Since you're on Noble, you can use snap to install these apps. They work well(-ish) and runs on wayland. They won't have the onscreen keyboard though which libertine might have.

EDIT: Although launching anything
libreoffice-related from the Ubuntu Touch menu seems not to work, I managed to at least start LibreOffice Writer from command line in terminal. This was the way, maybe it helps someone else who is not a pro at libertine containers:
- Install Libertine Tweak Tool
- Set all options ON, especially the
lirshoption. - Install package
libreoffice-writerin the default libertine container (callednobleby default) by typing this in a re-launched terminal (to get thelirshcommand):
libertine-container-manager install-package -p libreoffice-writer - Type in terminal:
lirsh - You will see something starting with
(noble)... $ - Launch LibreOffice by typing in terminal
libreofficeorsoffice.
Note that no java (
default-jre) was needed, neitherlibreoffice-java-common. I guesslirshdoes some wonders here and sets the paths inside the libertine container. If one knows whatlirshdoes, it could be used to fix the LibreOffice launcher(s) in the main Ubuntu Touch menu.At time of testing, clicking on menus File, Edit etc does not produce any visible menu. But it is possible to type some text create a PDF and save it in
/tmpfolder, which actually is located in the real/tmpfolder outside the libertine container. LibreOffice makes Ubuntu Touch unstable and the device restarts Lomiri causing a closure of every app in desktop mode. -
@mango Have you tried installing the Snap versions?
