I have a Oneplus Nord N10 5G BE2026. I am using the latest KDE Neon Linux desktop for installations. I am using installer

      ubports-installer_0.11.2_linux_x86_64.AppImage

I had initially installed 24.04-2.x on this phone. I had trouble, and so did a reinstall of 24.04-1.x daily. It was running fine. I've had it turned off for a couple of weeks.

I turned it on today and it downloaded an update. I didn't install the update. I decided to switch back to 2.x. So, I started the process to install 2.x daily. I always select the wipe data option.

I get confused about booting into fastboot, bootloader or recovery and the screen that has a green START and the Recovery screen that has orange options for factory reset and Advanced.

Anyway, I stumbled through the install a few times and it looked like I successfully did the install. It goes fast, because it looks like it is using cached files, except for 11 and 12, I think.

It boots up the UT mascot displays on the screen and it says it is doing an update. Then I set it up, log in and it is still running 1.x.

On one install attempt, I got an error after boot in which it goes into Recovery and to messages on the bottom of the screen say

      Setting up partitions...
E: Failed to find block device for partitionproduct_a

(I can go into the logs if more information is needed.)

So, I tried the Factory reset in the Recovery menu. That did some wipe.

Tried the install again. Same problems.

I decided to delete the ~/.config/ubports-installer folder in order to start from scratch without cached files.

Still the same trouble. What should my next step be? Do I need to reinstall Android and really start over?

      Thanks for your help.

Oh, maybe this is an aside, but when I boot into bootloader it says the device is "lito" but when I boot into recovery it says the device is "billie".

Let me add the last message from the error ("upgrade"?) log viewable in Recovery:

tar: write error: No space left on device

(I can't edit the last post because the button in the lower right that lets you jump to the top or bottom is covering up the controls to like/dislike/...)

I wanted to say that the log file I'm looking at is

            /cache/ubuntu_updater.log

Trying to install 1.x again and the phone is hosed. I can't power it off. It is at screen that show

              The boot loader is unlocked...
              ...
PRESS POWER KEY TO PAUSE BOOT

I hold the power key down for a minute and it doesn't power off.

When I plug it into my KDE desktop in this state I get a KDE alert that says

Halium initrd Failed to boot has been connected

For the failed to power off while holding power key a long time:

did you try combo of: holding volume up key and power key for a while ?

I think that is what I did after my N10 would not power off

@oldbutndy I didn't try that, but why I was trying the procedure with unbricking using msmdownloadtool, there was an instruction to hold volume up and down and power together. That seems to have gotten my phone out of that unable-to-power-off mode. I thought for sure I'd try that already, since it's the way to get into the bootloader.

Okay, I got back to the point where I could install 1.x and again after booting it up it said it is installing an update. I don't know if this is the daily update from when I started this day. That's when it downloaded the update but I didn't install it.

I am on 'daily' 24.04-1.n. I have noticed an issue where I check updates, after a week, and sometimes it shows none (when I know there should be at least 1). Touching the 'retry' shows the circular thing, wait, and still none. POPO or reboot, then try again & update available !
                      So, never give up ...

I have not yet tried 24.04-2.n because I sporadically see concerning forum posts (including another thread in past 2 days).

When I installed 2.x, upon rebooting, I get "Installing Update". Where is it getting this update? Is that part of the 2.x install?

The Installing Update finished, the phone rebooted, and ended in Recovery mode.

It won't boot past the screen that says "The boot loader is unlocked..." AGAIN. At least I CAN shut it off now. But, it won't boot past that screen.

Installing 1.x again. "Installing Update" again. 1.x is installed.

Maybe the bottom line for all this is that today's daily 2.x is broken or it doesn't work on the N10 now.

This time I rebooted a couple of times. While running 1.x daily I switched channels to 1.x stable. Rebooted a couple of times. Installed 2.x. Reboot. Again it is "Installing update".

I don't recall ever seeing "Installing update" after installing UT.

Now I'm back to the error "Failed to find block device for partionproduct_a".

So, this process of installing 2.x is unreliable.
