I'm really, really desperate for a torrent app on UT and have had no luck with Libertine.

      Cheers

You want to download on your cell, or just manage a torrent app on a server?

Well, if you are really desperate, no wait, really, really desperate 😉 and Libertine ain't working for you, you could try apt route ... But maybe I'd start with raising an issue, because transmission can run in headless mode, so that should really, really be doable in Libertine

Transmission does not have a touch friendly GUI, so putting it in a click as-is won't really change anything. If it doesn't work under Libertine for whatever reason, it's likely not going to work any better as a click (nor installed as a deb by messing with the rootfs).

Furthermore, assuming it did have a touch friendly GUI and made sense as a click, it would be bound by the application lifecycle policy, which is almost certainly going to cause issues with long downloads, as they would only happen while the app is running.

A touch-friendly GUI remote control for the transmission service running on a PC though, does sound more sensible.

@dobey I have had transmission installed in Libertine and ran only the backend there. I think from terminal. Transmission offers a webinterface, so I could just go to http://localhost:SOMEPORTNUMBER and that gave me a reasonable touch interface (website). I had no lifecycle problems that way, I think Libertine processes are not restricted that way. It's been a long time since I did that, but I don't think any of the relevant technology has changed.
