Download the customization of the device: halium-boot, system and vendor image provided by porter

I don't know at all what "porter" is.
      Oh you mean those files?
      https://twoot.bin.org.in/nextcloud/index.php/s/iAZDDkRYYAiN6Kk?path=%2Fmarlin

Download TWRP Recovery for your device: https://twrp.me/Devices/ - Note: DO NOT download the ZIP file for the TWRP installation that gained work with UT. You just need to download the .img file to get started!

Always the lastest one or a specific one?
      https://dl.twrp.me/marlin/twrp-3.5.0_9-0-marlin.img.html

      Other steps should be ok.

Here, "porter" is a human with dev skills, that ported uTouch to a device, yours here...

Hi guys, I'm more than interested to test it out on my Pixel XL 32GB(currently running LineageOS 18.1). Only issue with mine is that the microphone, proximity sensor and call speaker don't work. Problem is since I still use it as my daily driver I have a couple of questions to ask regarding daily usage(just to know if I have to use another device while testing).

            • Does call audio work trough Bluetooth since as I said the phone speaker doesn't work and also in the begging of the thread was mentioned that the call audio doesn't work?

            • How's Anbox support since I need to use a couple of Android apps

            • How's camera compatibility?

Excuse me for those stupid queations but I'm kinda new to Ubuntu Touch

              1. No, call audio wont work anywhere, the problem is the routing from the modem into the soundcard
              2. Anbox patches are not applied. However, Anbox is bleeding alpha, drains battery a lot and is not recommended for daily use. Most apps that use any kind of Google Play services etc wont work as well. Also its based on a very old Android, so most apps struggle with that. I think its Android 5 or so. In my opinion its a nice demo of whats possible, but not more than that.
              3. Camera: We cannot use any software algorithms that Google does to get the camera on its full power, but basic capabilities should be fine.

@flohack I recall my Note 4 saying anbox was 7.1, could it possibly be based on halium version?

Whether you think you can, or you can't, if you do not try, you will never truly know. So give it a Go.

@tigerpro No, its an image of a certain Android version, it has nothing to do with the deviceΒ΄s version. I dont think its 7.1 but who knows ^^

                    Hey there.

Installed on my old Sailfish. Install was fine, no issues.

Apart from the known cellular issue, my install has no sound at all. Is this a known issue?

One other thing - I've noticed it shows a notification icon at the top of the screen but when I go to notifications there is nothing there?

                    M.

                          Hi @lordzeed
This ain't the right place for this kind of question.
AFAK, no port is in progress, please check there for compatible devices : https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/

I finally been able to install Ubuntu Touch on my Goole Pixel XL. I would want to know if I'll need to flash every next release to get fixes and updates.
Thanks a lot for the port.

Also, could the bootloader be locked without losing any files after the installation is done?

I don't think Pixel XL is already in the OTA update processe, it's not handled by ubports installer though.

forgot to say that for some reason I don't know, the smartphone automatically start to the android bootloader (the one with the robot), after being powered off.

@fellfromthesky uh thats a though question, in principle yes. But if you do so, and you would ever have an issue with Ubuntu Touch that prevents it from booting, you could never access your data again so we do not recommend this under all circumstances.

The problem is less visible for Android phones where the apps save most data in the cloud, and also cloud backup is possible. But we are simply not there yet to support such options.

I'll let the smartphone as it is right now until the official release.

Hey, I have a Pixel XL and am 100% willing to test! My Pixel is fully functional and I have plenty of spare devices.

Also, since you have both a Pixel and Pixel 2, you might want to join t.me/Pixel1Chat and t.me/Pixel2Chat . They're run by me and a few friends, and you'll find lots of testers there too.

@yagya Thanks! Unfortunately neither of them has recovery working, and this blocks us a bit for making a wider test. I will come back as soon as we have solved this.
