TWRP still needed?

Is TWRP still necessary to install UT on the oneplus 3 or 3T. Im about to get one to upgrade my oneplus one will soon be kicked off metropcs.

@captainzer0 Yes I think it is still needed to format some partitions in ext4.

@captainzer0 Yes it seems clearing the cache and formating data to EXT4 and maybe system to seems to work best. Someone tried just the installer on our Welcome Install group https://t.me/WelcomePlus and hit a problem. TWRP fixed it and the install went fine.
