Camera adventures on OpO
-
Up until recently, the camera flash on the OpO was not working. This was confirmed on the forum and the new devices page, so I considered it normal (if unfortunate). But today, two things happened:
- The camera flash started working. Or I found out that the camera flash was working. Not sure which!
- The camera app apparently lost the permission to use the camera. This makes it impossible to take pictures.
I have tried to give the camera app permission to use the camera but it's not listed as an app to give permission to. I have rebooted the device. I have also removed and reinstalled the camera app.
Nothing has so far made the camera usable again. Can anyone please suggest the next step? Thanks!

Hi, I had a similar issue some time ago on my N5.
I turned off the phone waited a couple of minutes then booted it up again.
The camera then appeared in the authorized apps and worked again. You tried a reboot and a "hard reboot" won't probably fix it for you but it's worth the try.
You can also try and switch channels from stable to RC or any other way around...
Sometimes starting fresh also helps (without wiping data of course). -
@applee Thank you! I powered the phone down, waited a couple of minutes and booted it again...
The phone works again!
And the camera flash... does not.Ah well. It seems like we can't have it all... at least, not right now.

Hum, I think I kind of understand this issue.
The camera could lock access to the flashlight so it can't be used by other apps.
And if the flashlight is used first then it may prevent access for the camera app. Some kind of resource lock that is never released...
I don't have a OPO, but it might help someone.
Edit : glad at least you managed to get your camera back (I think camera is more important than the torch feature) -

And if the flashlight is used first then it may prevent access for the camera app. That makes sense. Interestingly, for a brief time (possibly during the taking of two pictures) they both worked! That's the type of malfunction I like...

Been trying camera zoom on OpO for a few days. It worked perfectly......ONCE....After updating to V92, RC channel. Should have tried to snap a pic.

If you click the three dots to the right above your post, you can edit. Very stylish interface, impossible to use.

@moem Thanks. Can't get quote to work again or add text after it. I'm a work in progress.

@farmer Aren't we all! But some of us realise it.
