Since I re-flashed my phone with the latest artefacts (https://gitlab.com/ubports/community-ports/android9/sony-xperia-10/sony-kirin/-/jobs) I haven't been able to connect to any update channels.

When I go on updates, it endlessly checks for updates but will neither find an update, nor tell me it can't find any, it just keeps on spinning. When I click on the cog to go to update settings, the channel says Development, but when I click on it to see a list of potential other update channels I end up with another endless loop as it checks for channels.

I think it once 'finished' fetching to display a blank page, it didn't even display the dev channel like it claimed to be connected to in the previous menu. This has lead me to believe that the phone isn't currently connected to any update channels, and I'm not sure how to force it to connect to an update channel.

Has anyone else come across this? Is there a way to connect my phone to one of the update channels another way? Maybe through the terminal?

@adlinux Have you checked to see whether it's set to only download updates when you're using WiFi?
Just a shot in the dark...

@adlinux Not having this device so are those channels available or does it only have a dev channel still, just going off this https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5733/updates-failing-to-install-sony-xperia-10/7 If it does retry running through the installer as an option.

@moem I have auto download on the update settings set to run only on Wifi. I would test it out on 4G, but unfortunately my phone can't seem to recognise my SIM under Ubuntu Touch (I'm actually hoping that updating the OS on my phone will fix the SIM issue).

@adlinux Then it would be interesting, and possibly helpful, to get it connected to WiFi somewhere and see if that fixes things.

@moem The phone is connected to Wifi. As in I can browse the web on Morph, I can update other system apps, and I can download things from the OpenStore. I just can't seem to access any system updates.

@adlinux Okay, sorry, that was not clear to me. Then I'm afraid I'm stumped.

@lakotaubp That was my question from before lol.
I think I've actually figured out what was going wrong then, but now I am facing a different issue.
When I posted that question I was using an older Ubuntu Touch artefact, one that I am now unable to download from Gitlab as it has now been removed (for being old I think). Back then it did connect to the dev channel, and under settings it would display the channel properly. It would even download them, but would fail to install them. I think this was due to the phone not having a custom recovery flashed to it.

Since then I experimented with Sailfish OS on the phone and have only just come back to Ubuntu Touch in the last week or so (with TWRP flashed as well).

The issue with this is that I now cannot get it to download an Ubuntu Touch system update at all, and I think it's not accessing the dev channel correctly.

@lakotaubp Replying to your comment on the other post (let's keep things on this one now as it is newer. Also I do see the two issues as separate, one is not being able to install a downloaded update, and the other is the phone not being able to properly connect to a download channel to download an update in the first place. Both are update related, but I feel at least that they are different enough to warrant different posts).

Unfortunately the Xperia 10 isn't on the UBports installer (at least not yet anyway), and I am aware that the device won't get OTA updates as it is not yet a stable device. I do know (from having Ubuntu Touch installed on it previously) that it is capable of receiving development branch updates. But as previously stated in this post, I am not convinced that my phone is actually connecting to that channel to fetch updates in the first place.

I understand that you aren't too familiar with the Xperia 10, which is fine, I would just like to know if there is another method of checking which update channel a phone is connected to on Ubuntu Touch, and if there is a way to manually connect to it outside of the settings app as this method appears to not be working.

Something like a few terminal commands that would give me a bit more information about it than the settings app does. I am hoping that this should be more specific to Ubuntu Touch as an OS rather than something specific to the Xperia 10 itself. This is why I originally posted the issue in the main support channel rather than the one specific to my phone as I thought it was more relevant to Ubuntu Touch as a whole rather than just my phone.

@adlinux This is not anything I can help with unfortunatly. You really need someone with your phone to confirm the issues and any fixes. Lets hope you get that answer soon.
