Withdraw or lock version 0.9.1
-
Wouldn´t it be a good idea to withdraw or lock the latest version of the ubports-installer due to all the issues reported all over the different sections of the forum? just a question... I´ve been reading such a lot of problems and answers advicing to take an older version. So I find it easier to withdraw the actual version so taht not so many people running in trouble with it.

@messayisto : I've heard that a new version is in the making that gets rid of the bugs of the current UBports installer. But I agree with you that as long as it's not released yet it seems wise to offer one of the older versions (I've read that 0.8.8 and 0.8.9 work the best). Otherwise, newcomers will have a hard time installing Ubuntu Touch and maybe will get discouraged. For the website it means just changing a link.

@messayisto : I have also asked this question on UBports Telegram channel now. That's all I can do.

@alter The issues are known about and are being sorted as quickly as they can. As soon as a new installer is released I will let you know. These messages are being passed on but as you will know there is not one link which can be pointed to one installer or another, they are all there.
I have no info as yet on the pulling of 0.9.1 so the current advice stands, if you have an install issue with 0.9.1 please try 0.8.8 or .9 The installer is still beta and does hit these unfortunate issues every now and then.
If anyone is interested in helping with the installer development and such, please contact Jan (@neothethird) as mentioned in the last Q&A and the recent. Q&A blog. -
@lakotaubp : I know behind the scenes there is work going on, and I'm sure it will get fixed. I appreciate the efforts of everyone involved enormously, and hope more people that have the necessary skills will join in the development of the UBports installer. In the meantime, while we're waiting for a new version with fix, newcomers to Ubuntu Touch are trying to install the OS with version 0.9.1 and running into problems. That's why we suggested reverting the website link to an older version that it seems has less issues. It is possible to point to a specific version on Github.

@alter The other thing to keep in mind is that not all devices seem to be affected. Quite a few I admit but not all. Then there are the problems some users had with 0.8.8/.9 on a completley different set of devices. So not quite as straight forward as it first seems. This is not ideal I will be the first to admit but as soon as there are answers we will let you know.
Also the offer is still there to anyone who wants to help with the installer or for that matter anything else. Let us know and we can direct you to the right people.
