      Hi,
      I'm just starting with the Pinephone on Ubuntu Touch. Today I tried to update using the command line, the way I would on my laptop (sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade) but this doesn't work.

      Does Ubuntu Touch not work in the same way as regular Ubuntu on a laptop?

      Thanks

        That's right, it doesn't. The use of apt is not recommended. Instead, it's recommended to update through the GUI.

        Is currently using an Op5t
        Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

          @caspartunnel indeed it does not.

          Updates are provided periodically Over The Air (OTA). There are three update channels on the PinePhone: stable, rc and devel. Development happens on the devel channel. This one is updated most frequently. At some point the then current devel image is promoted to the rc channel. Even less frequently (up to now) the at that time current rc image is promoted to stable.

          Development on the PinePhone happens at a different cadence than on Android devices. I run my PinePhone on the devel channel to keep up with the latest developments.

            @moem thanks, with gui do you mean some app or location on the phone, or do you mean just via the website downloads section?

            Edit: I got my answer (below). Thanks again.

                  @cliffcoggin Thanks! I had seen the specifc app update options, but hadn't realised that in 'Update settings' at the bottom you can select the channel. Thanks again.
