      In channels.json the 16.04/community/fredldotme/devel channel has a hidden:true tag. Why? This channel disappeared from the list in ubports installer and from the channel settings list on my suzu (Xperia X ) device. Is there any way to install the 16.04/community/fredldotme/devel images on my Xperia X?

        @gy0im

        This is the 32-bit image for the Xperia X. It was hidden as we are planning to drop this image with the 20.04 upgrade. It is not receiving a lot of attention and you probably shouldn't install it newly on your device. The 64-bit image in the devel/rc/stable channels is getting much more attention and is recommended.

          I'll ask related to messaging app, could it be made updatable outside OTA updates, in openstore, as some other core app are ?

          It would be good for legacy device to still have updates on such important app, after the 16.04 drop.

            Many thanks Dalton, I get it. The device is on 64-bit image now, but a lot of apps don't work (like file manager, bluetooth file transfer, openstore, terminal etc.). I think i installed newly the 32-bit image long ago. May it be the reason? I'm afraid i would lose my contact list, my messages, the installed apps etc. if i re-install with wiping the user data. Is it possible to keep (or somehow save) the personal data and get the apps work also?

              @yoni what is a 'Doze' feature? is that like a timed airplane mode?

                  App Roundup:

                  • Steps by Javad Rahimipour Anaraki: Count your steps using the accelerometer, you can even set a step goal for your journey.

                  • Baby Monitor by Fabian Huck: In early development this looks very promising for a new parent, map out and monitor the most important events for your newborn.

                  • Fixel: Nicolas Colla forked and brought back a very important tool for helping to fix stuck pixels - help bring a classic UT app up to date
                    Nicolas has also done some work on Gimped Mark a markdown editor - if you know anything about porting to qtwebengine some features needed to be reimplemented - but it is great seeing this app run again.

                  • Waydroid Helper from Aaron Hafer: This app has some tools that are of great help to Waydroid users, it can hide all those extra app icons waydroid makes, and lets you create a 'Stop Waydoid' icon so you can be sure waydroid is not running and using battery when you don't need. Also this app gives you some useful terminal commands ready for copy/paste.

                  • (if Alfred is there have him read 🙂 ) Pocket VM's ! Run vurtual machines on your phone, { insert features Alfred wants to talk about }

                    @gy0im Go to system settings -> updates -> click the gear -> Reinstall all apps

                    because it changed from 32 - to 64 all the system apps were left at 32, if you use this option it should keep the user data and pull in the 64 bit versions

                      Question for mariogrip
                      For assisted GPS (aGPS) Ubuntu touch has currently a feature which is not in use.
                      The Mozilla location service (mls).
                      What is the status of this, does it work for the pinephone?

                      Not that it is more important than 20.04 but just curious.
                      The pinephone branch of location-service has the mls code from https://code.launchpad.net/~thomas-voss/location-service/add-ichnaea-provider-next in it.
                      It can only be tested with the api key. Florian has one if I remember it correctly.

                      Probably it can be tested on the pinephone with:
                      exec /usr/bin/ubuntu-location-serviced --bus system --provider gpsd::Provider --provider mls::Provider --mls::Provider::api=<example: 329694ac-a337-4856-af30-66162bc8187a>
                      for an android device it is probably this:
                      exec /usr/bin/ubuntu-location-serviced --bus system --provider gps::Provider --provider remote::Provider --provider mls::Provider --mls::Provider::api=<example: 329694ac-a337-4856-af30-66162bc8187a>

                        Hello @ubportsnews, On last Q&A I asked Marius about the lomiri on debian. Unfortunately, you had too little time to anwser my question, so now I'm repeating the question: Can you tell us more details about lomiri on debian project?
                        I hope it'll get answered this time 🙂
                        [probably not cause Marius is absent]

                          Here in the Netherlands, it's Saint Nicholas this weekend, the festivity of mysterious gifts. I have a gift-related question for whoever is doing the honours tonight:
                          If Saint Nicholas would come by and gift you a device of your choice, plus a matching and completely working UT port for it (it's Saint Nic, he can do anything!) which would be the device of your dreams, that you would choose?

                          Is currently using an Op5t
                          Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

                            Thank you Mateo! What a great and simple solution. It solved my problem. And i hadn't noticed that reinstall all apps button before. I love this community, and this OS.

                                  @nocturn-adrift said in Q&A 113 This Saturday At 19:00 UTC:

                                  Is there any update to @jezek 's MMS fixes, and its implementation into OTA-21?

                                  The current issues of MMS on Ubuntu Touch, particularly MMS messages being lost in the air, is a frequent issue among UT users. With integrating more phones being ported or included in the project into the future, I figured it would be something most users are interested in.

                                  Even if the question has not been answered in QA. I can imagine that the core team is mostly focused on 20.04 migration. As that enhancement is a quite big change it would slow down the process. Hope to see it merged soon too 🙂

                                    @lduboeuf I am in touch with the North America Carriers Signal Group, and am helping to test there. Thank you for your posts, with them I don't think I would've had the kick to step forward and help test. I should be getting around to testing and getting my logs for my OP5
