Currently the following known issues exist and are unlikely to be solved soon:

        • Offline charging (charing when the device has been powered off) works partially does not work
If you connect power to a OP5/5T which is turned off, the Oneplus splash screen will appear, display will never turn off. If you disconnect power, device will stay powered and drain your battery. Do not try to use offline charging. If you accidentially enter this situation, long-press power until device reboots. I am currently trying to fix that, but did not proceed far.

        • UPDATE 2022-01-17: The offline charging works now as intended except that the device does not switch off when charger is disconnected, but reboots. This is a known issue of Halium 9 now: https://gitlab.com/ubports/community-ports/android10/project-management/-/issues/11

        • Fingerprint sensor
Currently registering fingerprints work, but they cannot be accessed again for verification, therefore the lock method cannot be switched to fingerprint unlock. The cause is unknown but deeply buried in the Android container. A solution is unlikely to be found by me. - Turns out we can work around this issue, fingerprint should work now in devel in 1-2 days...

        • Device sleep
Currently device does not enter sleep immediately when a push notification received, but will turn off only after the usual screen timeout.

From a privacy point of view I would skip the fingerprint stuff completely and forget about it! 🙂

          The charging stuff however...

That really needs to work reliably!
Hope you can fix it somehow 😉

          My phones :

          • BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Phone Edition - Ubuntu Touch 16.04 LTS
          • ZUK Z2 Pro - ZUI Android 8.x
          • Xiaomi Mi 9T - Jolla SailFish 3.4.x Community Build

@nero355 I don't see how the option, to use your fingerprint for unlocking, affects privacy negatively. After all, you can use it or not, it's a choice.

And I frankly don't see what's so important about offline charging either.

So if I had to choose (which luckily is not the case), I would always choose working fingerprint unlocking over offline charging. But either way it's not a big deal to me. I can do without both of these features.

@nero355 The problem with offline charging is that if you forget about it it might empty your battery and/or burn in the screen at the moment, so its more critical than fingerprint 🐷

It should not have existed at all, but I guess the big corp companies wanted our fingerprints too ?!

So just like the buttons on my BQ phone are ignored under Ubuntu Touch I hope the Fingerprint Readers can be ignored on all Ubuntu Touch phones too! 🙂

                Really ?!

That is an opinion, and you get to have that opinion, but it does not explain how the option affects privacy negatively.

How so? I have never used it... well, not by choice anyway. If my phone switches on when I'm charging it, that is fine.

Ubuntu Touch is about PRIVACY and you want A COPY OF YOUR FINGERPRINT stored on your phone ?!

                    Come on... 🙄

How so? I have never used it... well, not by choice anyway. If my phone switches on when I'm charging it, that is fine.

                    Really !!

It's basic functionality in case you run out of battery at some point!

                    How it should work :

                    • Phoned turned itself off.
                    • You plug in the adapter.
                    • Phone boots to Offline Charging Mode
                    • You see some kind of indicator that it's charging. Usually a large battery and sometimes a cable attached to it.
                    • The screen turns off after 15 or 30 seconds or so and the phone keeps charging untill it's full.
                    • During this period the Notification LED can sometimes light up as Red/Orange/Green depending on the status of the charging process.

                    THAT's HOW ALL PHONES WORK!!!
So we need it to work. No discussion possible! 😉

Yes. I don't see a problem there. I trust the UT folks not to send that fingerprint anywhere else.

Discussion is always possible, by the way, but I think we're done here. A bit too much drama and all-caps shouting for my liking.

Yeah dont want to ride the horse until its dead but:

                        • Fingerprint sensor is a fully closed-source implementation, so UT does in fact not store any fingerprint but the Android container does this by itself
                        • Normally the prints go into the TEE part of the phone (Trusted execution environment) and cannot leave it again - I trust Androids and the hardware manufacturers design here that fingerprint data is one-way
                        • Instead the reader sends the print to be authenticated again into that secure environment and just gets back if its ok or not.

@moem yes indeed. It helps only though for the siuation that registering/enrolling fingerprint works, but the lock method cannot be selected. That affects at least also the Nexus 6P but there we need to upgrade to Halium 9 first 😉
