Hello everybody. I have now found a real media player alternative with the help of another Miatool user. The reason why I'm writing this text here is as follows: The on-board resources of Ubuntu Touch simply have far too few supported formats. It cannot be intentional that only MP4 is really available.

A brief description of what to consider when using Kodi. Please only install via Libertine, the blue field where the word Debian is, enter Kodi there, click and install, because you also need the Libertine Tweak Tool. A value of 100-212 must be entered for the XPDI scale, you would have to try this yourself.

From here a small report of what I have already tested on Merlin and Miatool. I have successfully tested the video formats AVI, MPG, WMV, MP4 on both devices mentioned.

Here's the rub, media is only recognized from the device storage or the home Video and Music folder. The Merlin also recognizes the SD card in the Kodi Media Center but refuses to search for media on the SD card.

The Miatool device also plays everything well, but it also gets very good use, which drains the battery faster. That's it from me to my latest observation.

I hope more people will try this Kodi media center now. Tools like VLC and SM Player also work, but the image output just doesn't work.

@dpitti So this is really a Libertine essential post rather than alternative media player post? Just thinking it is better off in the Libertine section of the Forum to make things a clear to everyone.

@lakotaubp Make that decision. In fact, Kodi is better than any Ubuntu Touch media player in the base install. Then they put that posting in the Mediaplayer or Libertine section. Definitely the best solution for me, although it could still be improved.
