Android 10

I am looking forward to buy a used Oneplus 5 with Android 10 on it. Is there any need to downgrade to Android 9 - I have an Xiaomi MiA 2, which had Android 10 and it was possible to install UBouch without issues... is this also possible on the Oneplus 5?

@messayisto There is no harm in trying to install without doing the downgrade first... either it will work or it won't. If it won't, you know what to do... if it will, you have just saved yourself some time!
Enjoy your Op5! I'm certainly enjoying my Op5t.

@moem Thank you for your encouraging message! I will give it a try...

@messayisto, while I agree with @Moem's advice, you need to be aware that doing things differently to what the installer asks might cause breakage is subtle ways.
Failing to downgrade to Android 9 and installing over 10 might work better, might not work at all, or it might be missing some component which causes some hardware to not always work as reliably as advertised on the devices page. So please be a aware of this when you encounter issues with the OS later on.

Looks like Android 10 does not work. My friend tried to install ut using the latest installer with Android 10 on it. The device went into a boot loop after successful installation. There seems to so a discrepancy , The installer suggests to use Android 10 but the installation fails if we use A10.
The devices page on the website however explicitly states that android 9 must be used.

@Flohack @Jami @vince1171 Can you please confirm the right version of android that op5t needs to have originally installed for ut installation to work?

Android 9 but it should not matter since we flash system and vendor. That should wipe and remains of incompatible Android versions.

Wipe "all" remains ?
-
Please, would someone clarify if we have to revert from Android 10 to Android 9 before installing UT?
Also, there were some reports on other forums that battery life is worse on Android 10 than on 9 - would that be something that is wiped by UT installer as @Flohack said?
- sorry for not knowing if it's appropriate to continue this old thread or it's better to open a new one.

@mihael You don't have to downgrade to Android 9 to install UT. Don't tick the box that goes on about Android 9.xx in the installer, it chucks up an error and doesn't do anything. Battery life is fine on this device.

@mrt10001 Thank you very much!

@mihael I just went from Android 10 to UT on my OnePlus 5, so can confirm that worked. I was using linux. I did have to go through the UBPorts set up process twice, but otherwise was very seamless. (and saved some time of having to downgrade to Android 9)
