Calls not working on Volla Phone with Telus Canada network, but data and SMS work fine
-
I have a Volla phone and would like to use it with a Telus Canada SIM-Card that I purchased today, but phone calls do not work at all (neither incoming nor outgoing calls). Data and SMS do work fine, though.
I don't know what to do. Do you know any solution to this problem?
Some more detailed description:
- Calls work on a Samsung smartphone using the same SIM.
- I noticed that Volla does not recognize the SIM/network ("Unknown") if I set the cellular to 2G only or 2G&3G.
- The Telus frequencies seem to match the ability of the Volla. Telus: HSPA: 850 MHz and 1900 MHz (UMTS)
Maybe related (but I am not sure):

@gt After some investigation, I figured out the root cause of the problem.
Indeed, the Telus and Koodo networks in Canada seem to not support GSM/2G. The 3G/UMTS frequencies applied here in Canada do not seem to be compatible with the Volla Phone. The 4G/LTE frequencies are supported by the Volla phone. VoLTE is not supported by Ubuntu Touch. Thus, the result is that voice is not working (2G/3G), while data (4G) is working. SMS are working, but I don't know why.
A solution to the call problem are the Fido and Rogers networks. They support GSM frequencies that are also supported by the Volla Phone.
In the end, I use 2 SIM cards, data on Telus (the SIM I bought first) and calls/SMS on Fido.
