Testing OS before phone purchase

I was considering getting a Fairphone in the near future. I was just wondering if there's a way to emulate Ubuntu Touch on a computer so that you can get a feel for it before deciding if it's right for you? I recall trying to use a virtual phone in Ubuntu using some commands from a Wiki article but I think they must've been out of date because I had no luck.

You can find the instructions to use Canonical Ubuntu Touch emulator here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/EmulatorI can't find the Ubports version and don't known if it exists.
About Fairphone 2, be careful about the new camera module:

I tried today Canonical emulator, it doesn't work for me.
It reminds me that this emulator was most often broken during the last months of UT development by Canonical...To get a taste of UBports UT on FP2, that video may be usefull:

It's the next version (xenial alias 16.04). -
The new camera modules of the FP2 work with OTA-3 of 15.04 but without flash.
And I'm a little surprised to see the virtual keyboard working in the video of 16.04 on the FP2, because it doesn't work for me + here is the corresponding issue: https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/395
