OP6T New Install issues
-
@mrt10001 Brand new Volla Phone X. It is 'toughened' so no need for a case. They don't make one. That leaves the on off switch exposed in the pocket. The default two minute timeout leaves the screen on and susceptible to random presses in the pocket. It means that I get 1 day on a charge if I keep it on my pocket or 3 days if I keep it out of my pocket.
Some kind of timeout on the 'access' screens might improve things..... just a thought from a grateful user.

@ian This is confusing... how did all this talk about a Volla end up in a thread about OP6T installation issues?
-
@ian You should be able to press the power button for a second to switch off the screen and put the phone to sleep. If that fails to work, it is usually a hardware issue, unless it has been altered within the software to alter the function of the power button (i.e. camera shortcut).
I have found if the phone is asleep, pocket waking doesn't happen unless you get a message or email or incoming phone call. To get an accidental emergency dial has never happened to me and shouldn't happen in any case.
From what @mw4jet described, it certainly sounds like a hardware issue - I could still be wrong, but from past experience if Android runs fine, but UT doesn't a reinstall fails, go back to square 1 and start with the stock Android ROM. -
@moem
I got confused too.
@Ian is not the OP but reacted to the same problem OP got.
I guess some form factor and design choices from the manufacturer made them more or less annoying.Except being careful or indeed reducing the delay...
You can try to change it in the settings to see if it works for you. -
@moem Sorry. My bad. I was responding to a coment about buttons being pressed while the phone was in a pocket. I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.
I'll shut up now.
Sorry...

@ian I remember that the Volla phone was similar model as the gigaset gs 290, so one could buy a case for it. maybe the same game for the Volla X? just a thought.
-
@messayisto Thanks for the reply. The X has no case made by the manufacturer as 'it does not need one' as it is a toughened version of the Volla Phone. There are post market cases but they will probably make it too big to fit in a pocket.

@mrt10001 Re-install android? That would be worse than the inadvertent dialing!! I'll carry it around screen facing out for a while. I did not really use it at all in android. The device seemed very responsive and the display very brilliant when I got it, but my reason for getting it was to run UT. I have noted that the battery will degrade a lot, 20% overnight even when it is shut down. It must not totally shut down, really strange. I verified this three times.

@mw4jet Yes, I have had to do it on some devices to get UT working (mainly OP3 and some Xiaomi devices). If Android works as it should, i.e. no ghost dialling and buttons work fine, then there is an issue between the device and UT.
Sorry, typing this on a phone.... The battery issue on UT is another thing that affects a range of devices, bearing in mind the age of the device etc.
But if someone at some stage in your devices live has had the screen or internals changed, it may throw up the ghost touch and buttons issue.
If you want to get to the bottom of the issue, sometimes you have to start from scratch, and that is unfortunately reinstalling the correct Android stock ROM and testing it on that to make sure the hardware functions. Then go back and install UT.

Don't want to do the Android test yet. Living with the weird power on issues. I always hold vol up and power, takes 5-7 seconds it vibrates, I let go and it boots. Shutdown is normal, hold power button and the 4 choices show up. I have found it won't boot if the usb is connected, like charging.
Got phone and text working with cell data. The only thing I don't have working is pictures in text messages in or out.
I expect other things will surface when I begin to carry it, but we'll see.
