Finally got it booting UT, odd things though, the power button is ineffective. Power-off only from UT control (across top of screen).

To turn device on, all three buttons need to be held and at vibrate sometimes it boots with the oneplus logo or it may go into fastboot, not sure if its a timing thing on my part, then I just select start and it boots.

It also looses battery when off, like 20% overnight...

It works real good so far, need a SIM card and try it out...

Is this normal for this device?

@mrt10001 none, only issue I ran into on a couple of installs (of many recoveries) was wifi would not connect and i found that intermittent issues for OP6 isn't too uncommon, but otherthat that it seemed normal to me.

Another oddity, I was listening to Podbird via Bluetooth headset with the phone in my pocket. I started hearing dial tones, the lock screen would wake and it was trying to make an emergency call. This happened 3 times. It is running the stable channel so tap to wake isn't an option here.

                  Hi @mw4jet
In your pocket make sure to put the screen facing out.
I had issues with touchscreen being activated with my thigh through my jeans...

@applee I realised that my Volla Phone X was only lasting one day on a full charge. I was getting the odd tone from the phone as it tried to dial numbers in 'emergency call' mode in my pocket. I then tried not keeping my phone in my pocket, I can now get three days operation on a full charge.

Can anything be done to stop inadvertant turning on of the phone in pockets? It might make our UT phones last longer between charging.🙂

Well it depends on how it gets activated...

The problem is hardware and soft-ish-ware (human body). With android you'll get the same activation when moving it can double-tap or tap the power button also motion is used to wake the phone (on android)...

So best is to learn how it gets activated. For me it's just putting the screen facing out to avoid accidental wake.
Lesson is if your finger can do it, your pocket can probably do it either... cause you know... flesh.

Simple but not very elegant solution, use a book-cover style protection for your phone, my GF uses one but it's inconvenient and I prefer to put the phone in the right orientation to avoid the issue.

@applee I was thinking more along the lines of a long press of the power switch to turn it on. Then if the emergency call activation was pressed another pop up window 'do you wish to make an emergency call? Yes/no' that times out after 3 seconds and puts the phone back to sleep.

How about if the phone is switched on and no attempt is made to start entering the pin/pass phrase within 2 to 3 seconds for the phone to go back to sleep?

I used to get into emergency mode and hear the dial tones with my phone in my overall breast pocket with the screen facing outwards.

                          @ian

I'm not sure that degrading the user experience for emergency is a good idea.
If this problem is widely reproduced then maybe something needs to be done.
But if it's just for a specific device or some specific use cases, I don't think it's worth the trouble.

Looking for a complex solution to a simple problem is not the way to go in my mind.
To prove my point we can imagine using machine learning to detect when people want to use the phone and when it is a pocket call, but you know it's like using the death star to kill a bug.

This is just my humble opinion 🙂

@applee My concern was not the complication. I am more worried that my suggestion is dangerously close to the dreaded Micro$oft Windoze 'Are tou sure y/n'😇

@mw4jet Usually you will get these issues if the touchscreen has been replaced and/or the buttons for power and volume have been disturbed or damaged. If it doesn't have these issues in Android, there is a good chance Ubuntu Touch doesn't like something in the hardware. To test you will have to install the stock ROM and have a good play with the phone. If all is good, install UT again, following the install instructions to the letter. If UT repeats the issues, then you have incompatible hardware somewhere, which from my experience is usually the touchscreen.

@mrt10001 Brand new Volla Phone X. It is 'toughened' so no need for a case. They don't make one. That leaves the on off switch exposed in the pocket. The default two minute timeout leaves the screen on and susceptible to random presses in the pocket. It means that I get 1 day on a charge if I keep it on my pocket or 3 days if I keep it out of my pocket.

Some kind of timeout on the 'access' screens might improve things..... just a thought from a grateful user.☺

@ian This is confusing... how did all this talk about a Volla end up in a thread about OP6T installation issues?

                                  Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

@ian You should be able to press the power button for a second to switch off the screen and put the phone to sleep. If that fails to work, it is usually a hardware issue, unless it has been altered within the software to alter the function of the power button (i.e. camera shortcut).
I have found if the phone is asleep, pocket waking doesn't happen unless you get a message or email or incoming phone call. To get an accidental emergency dial has never happened to me and shouldn't happen in any case.
From what @mw4jet described, it certainly sounds like a hardware issue - I could still be wrong, but from past experience if Android runs fine, but UT doesn't a reinstall fails, go back to square 1 and start with the stock Android ROM.

                                      I got confused too.
@Ian is not the OP but reacted to the same problem OP got.
I guess some form factor and design choices from the manufacturer made them more or less annoying.

Except being careful or indeed reducing the delay...
You can try to change it in the settings to see if it works for you.

                                        I'll shut up now.

@ian I remember that the Volla phone was similar model as the gigaset gs 290, so one could buy a case for it. maybe the same game for the Volla X? just a thought.

@messayisto Thanks for the reply. The X has no case made by the manufacturer as 'it does not need one' as it is a toughened version of the Volla Phone. There are post market cases but they will probably make it too big to fit in a pocket.
