I'm following the instructions outlined in How to Install Ubuntu Touch on the Jingpad A1/C1 but I'm not having any luck unlocking the JingPad bootloader.

I can access the bootloader menu ("fastboot" at the top left of the screen and JingPad logo in center) and I have the JingPad Bootloader Unlock Tool ready to go in Chrome and the JingPad connected to my PC via USB cable.

When I click connect in the JingPad Bootloader Unlock Tool, it lists a "fastboot device" but selecting that device does nothing: the "Unlock" button remains greyed out and "device status" is "disconnected".

What can I do to troubleshoot this?

@cannonfodder what OS are you running the tool from?

@cannonfodder From memory, I could only get the unlock tool to work using a windoze machine.

@DenMoore I tried this on Windows and had even less success. The JingPad Bootloader Unlock Tool found no compatible devices.

@cannonfodder There might be drivers that need installing on Windows. But I did it so long ago I have forgotten what steps I took exactly to get the bootloader unlocked. I do remember however that I also needed to borrow a Windows laptop from my sister to get it done.

@cannonfodder As @arubislander mentioned I think you need to install some drivers first. From memory they were Unisoc USB drivers, I think.

@DenMoore You were right. On Windows I needed to install unisoc drivers. I followed the instructions here.
