Volla X23 Won't Boot After Switching to Development Channel
-
I just received my Volla X23 preloaded with Ubuntu Touch yesterday. Everything was going smooth except it wasn't working with my sim card. I decided to switch from the stable channel of 20.04 to the development channel to see if this solved anything. It asked me to restart to install the update so I did but now the phone just hangs at the Volla logo. Any ideas on how to at least get the phone booting again ?

@PublicLewdness I have an X23 too. I hesrd a day or two ago that the reflashing tool doesnt support the X23 yet.
i didnt want to spoil your day. just saying that reflashing probably isnt an option for you and you may need to ask hallo welt to reflash for you if it comes to that

@PublicLewdness Have you already forcibly turned the device off and then after the count of ten, turned it back on again?

I figured that this may be the case so I wouldn't say you ruined my day, just confirmed my suspicions.
Yes, I turned the device off, removed the battery, then reinserted the battery and power on after more than ten seconds.
I can access the recovery menu, any chance that helps me ? I still have my Pixel 2 with Ubuntu Touch so i'm not without a phone any way.

@PublicLewdness The advantage of a Volla Phone purchased from Hello Welt Systems is that you can contact their Customer Support and they should be able to help restore your device to a working condition.

@PublicLewdness Well, obviously what you should've done is order the device with Volla OS, which would've enabled you to multiboot off the MMC. Your problem would've been easily fixed in that case. I'll put both Ubports and Sailfish on my memory card and will rest assured nothing I do with either OS will break my device. Would that you were so lucky.

@PublicLewdness Did this get resolved yet? You could use the recovery mode along with https://github.com/ubports/installer-configs/pull/240 for now and launching UBports installer from command line with
-f
argument pointing to the savedvidofnir.yml
installer config file. -
My apologies for the very late reply but to answer your original question you had actually helped me through email earlier in the year in fixing this with that config. Thank you !
