        Hi all,
I currently have 3 operating systems on my volla 22 phone. VollaOS installed internally and SailfishOS and Ubuntu-Touch as multiboot on an sd card. Works great, so far.

Now I would like to upgrade my Ubuntu-Touch which currently is a Xenial (16.04) to Focal (20.04). Does anyone have some pointers, how I can do that when the OS is installed on sd card (as opposed to the internal storage). The instructions I have found so far all assume that the OS is installed on the internal storage. And I don't want to damage the VollaOS that is installed there on my phone.

I would actually be quite happy with instructions how I could update / install Focal on the sd card while it is inserted in my (Linux) PC. That way, I could be 100% shure to not damage anything on the phone.

I've actually already successfully set up a second sd card and copied Sailfish and UT over to that completely on the pc. So I have a spare card for experiments.

Is there some UT-Focal image somewhere, that I can just copy into the UT root partition on the sd card completely from the pc? Has anyone ever done something like that?

Multiboot on Volla devices is a "proprietary" thing of Hallowelt.
I would ask them directly how to do what you need, as support on this is all up to them.

yes, true. But then, what they do looks quite straightforward. They have one partition on the sdcard that contains a readable configuration file giving the names and kernel image paths of the installed OSs on the card and the kernels and init-rds of the multiboot OSs. And then each installed OS has a (read only) system partition (I guess more or less what would be flashed to the device normally) and a writable data partiton for each OS.

So it looks like one could replace the kernel image and the read-only root partition files and you would be done. Does anyone know of such a root-partition image (or tar file or whatever) with a Ubuntu-Touch 20.04 (Focal) system for a Volla 22 phone that I could download?

But, yes, would probably make sense to ask in the volla forum as well.

Please, ask in the Volla Forums. The only supported installation path on this forum here is via the UBports Installer.
