waydroid update
-
@gandalf You can do this from within Waydroid. Just click download and when that is done click restart. Just as simple as that

-
@TheBird That worked, thanks for the confirmation
-
Where can I find that inside waydroid? I can see it in Settings -> Installed Apps but I cannot find it to launch it...

@mihael said in waydroid update:

You can see an update in the notificationbar at the upper edge of the screen
Also settings - system - waydroid updater -
@TheBird Thanks! What I did was from ubports terminal:
sudo waydroid upgrade
. Now, inside waydroid, in Settings -> System -> Waydroid Updater I see System Image: Unknown, Vendor Image: Unknown. But the Waydroid Updater menu entry in Settings -> System says underneath "Updated to Android 11" - so I guess I updated it... But I don't know why it says "Unknown"... -
@mihael I see 'up todate' for both System and Vendor image.
I'll try post a message here when there is another update so you can check if you see it too and then update like described above by me. -
@mihael I see there is a new update for Waydroid today.
-
@TheBird Thank you. It still shows in mine "Unknown".
-
@mihael go to settings in Waydroid - about phone ( al the way to the buttom) - Android version 11
Then you should be able to see the installed version with date. Mine is showing 18.1-20231027- VANILLA-waydroid_arm64
There is also a line that shows the Android-security updates with the date 6 october.
-
@TheBird I have LineageOS version 18.1-20231020-VANILLA-waydroid_arm64 and Android security update October 6, 2023 - so maybe that is why it doesn't (yet) trigger the updater?
-
@mihael no it should update I think, but I am not sure. Your date is lower so it is behind. On the other hand, the date off the security update is the same. It looks like the updater does not work? It can not recognise the date of the latest installed update. So that is why is shows 'unknown'?
You could try updating your way with sudo waydroid upgrade and see if the date of the last installed version changes to mine
-
@TheBird Also in Settings, under Android version, at Vendor security patch level it also says "Unknown" - I don't know if that matters.
I could try an update from ubports terminal - so from outside waydroid, what do you think?
-
@mihael I am not sure but I would try that if I was you. It can not do any harm. You tried it before.
-
@TheBird I did the upgrade from ubports terminal. Everything is the same with the only difference of LineageOS being the today's version.
-
@mihael I will post a new message when there is another upgrade so we can check the security update date
-
@mihael New update. What changes after the update:
-
buildnumber: 62 test-keys -> 63 test-keys
-
build-date; today's date
-
LineageOS-version: 18.1-20231103-V...
-
Vendor security patch level under Android version like you metioned also unknown here
-
Android security update still on 6 october
-
-
@TheBird The same "Unknown" inside waydroid. I did the update from Ubuntu Touch terminal. Then, inside waydroid, it still remained "Unknown".
-
@mihael But it got updated?
Maybe the update funtionality broke because you used the terminal way of updating in the first place?
- Try a reinstall off Waydroid?
- Try looking in the logging app?
-
@TheBird Yes, it did update.
